Here we go, let's get the Halloween SPOOKtivities started!
Day 1 of 31 Days of Halloween
Laila Pumpkin Shadow Faerie
Shadowbox Luminary
by Leigh
I'm kicking off this year's 31 Days of Halloween Blog Hop with a wickedly magical Shadowbox Luminary featuring Digi Stamps and SVG Cutz from this year's Shadows Rising Halloween 2022 Collection and Digi Stamps from last year's Once Upon a Nightmare Collection!
The magic at midnight!
Laila the Pumpkin Shadow Faerie is the star of my Shadowbox Luminary and I coloured her with Prismacolor pencils and white paint highlights. Her wings shimmer prettily with Spectrum Noir Glitter and her eyes are painted with DecoColor glow-in-the-dark paint. I fussy cut her out using my Silhouette Cameo 4 and painted the white narrow offset border with a pale Villainous Potion Distress Oxide ink wash.
Laila is surrounded by a forest of trees I cut using my Silhouette Cameo 4 and layered up using the 3 stand alone trees and the forest trio from the Furness Forest Shadow Trees SVG Cutz set. Two shadow trees, one on each side of her, are coated in copper glitter for lots of rich magical sparkle.
I created the background scene with Villainous Potion and Uncharted Mariner Distress Oxide Sprays and printed the Furness Forest Winter Treescape digi stamp on to it and added stars with white paint. I then added the Wicked Moon and a few of Tim Holtz Mixed Media Halloween die cut bats.
I also used the Root Border cut file by Rivka Wilkins, from the Silhouette Design store, as the base for each shadow tree layer mounted inside the large coffin box from my stash.
I decorated the edges of the coffin shadowbox with Cheery Lynn spiderweb die cuts which I cut in half and Flourishes, also by Rivka Wilkins, which I trimmed to create 4 separate pieces. I applied Spectrum Noir silver gilding wax to all the pieces and used gloss glaze on the flourishes and 2 of the bat die cuts in the 2 top corners.
The larger bats are Tim Holtz Bat Crazy die cuts and the gorgeous large silver metal bat is one of Tim’s Idea-ology pieces.
I decorated the spiderweb along the bottom edge with the ornate spider from another of Tim Holtz Idea-ology Halloween sets. I drilled a hole in the back of the wooden coffin shadowbox and threaded through a set of battery operated wire dew drop lights with a pretty peachy glow to illuminate my magical shadowbox luminary.
When clouds suddenly obscure the light of the moon and you're alone in the dark…Laila peers at you from the shadows of Furness Forest with bewitching glowing green eyes!
