Tutorial Tuesdays: Steampunk Bunny - 3D Carrot Ornament by Leigh!

Hiya Creative Friends!
For today's Tutorial Tuesday I've got a 3D carrot ornament project to share featuring LeighSBDesigns Steampunk Easter Bunny🐰

Steampunk Easter Bunny is on FLASH SALE until midnight (pacific) tonight so snap him up and make some super cool and fun Steampunk Bunny 3D carrots for Easter🐰

I love making boxes and had a blast creating this ornament box that can either hang, stand on its own or be given as a treat box stuffed with mini Easter eggs.  Lets get started😋

Start off by creating a long triangular shaped box.  You can make them any size and have a whole collection of different shaped carrots.  My box measurements are:
Total length of the longest panel including flaps is 7 inches and the total width of the entire box is 8.5 inches so you can easily make this box using a standard 8.5 x 11 inch sheet of cardstock.  Assembled the box measurements are 2 x 2 inches at the top and 5/8 x 5/8 inches at the base.

Cut notches into the 2 longest flaps at the top and assemble the box using your favourite adhesive.

Apply Tea Dye Distress Ink to all the edges.

Print out 4 Steampunk Easter Bunnies onto white cardstock and cut 4 panels about 2/8 of an inch smaller than the box sides and one square blank panel for the top of the box.

Colour the Steampunk Easter Bunnies with Copics.  Alternate the colours of the hat band and the bow tie just for a bit of variation.  Add white highlights to the whole image and metallic gold to the clock centers with gel pens.  I also added clear Wink of Stella to the clocks, the bow ties and Easter eggs for a touch of magical shimmer as well.

Apply Tea Dye Distress Ink to the edges of all the panels.

Adhere the panels to black cardstock and trim leaving a 1/8 inch border.

Stamp "Happy Easter" onto the Square panel for the top of the box.  I used my Tim Holtz stamp platform and masked off each word before inking up with Teal Zeal Memento Ink.

Edge the panel with Tea Dye DI as well.  Then mat on black cardstock and trim leaving a 1/8 inch border.  Cut the panel in half and punch two half-holes on the "middle" edges.  You'll see why just now.

Create "carrot greenery" with loops of green ribbon and secure the ends with wire.  Make sure the end part is wider than the hole punched into the box lid so the greenery doesn't pull out the hole, especially if you want to hang the ornament.

Insert the greenery into the hole at the top of the box and adhere the box lid flaps together securing the greenery inside.  You'll want to leave the flaps unglued if you make treat boxes!  Adhere the sentiment panel to the box top.  Now you can see why we cut it in half.

Then adhere all the Steampunk Easter Bunny panels to the box sides and voilà, how cool and fun is that🐰

You can see the Wink of Stella shimmer and touches of gold in these photos.

Tutorial Tuesdays: "White Rabbit Grunge in Wonderland" Easter Greetings Card by Leigh!

Hiya Creative Friends!
I've got a Wonderland themed "Easter Greetings" card tutorial for you today featuring the newest addition to LeighSBDesigns Grunge in Wonderland series, the White Rabbit Grunge Collage🐰  Today's featured digi is on FLASH SALE until midnight (pacific) Thursday so snap him up and make some fun alternative Easter Bunny cards this year🐰

You all know how much I love Alice in Wonderland so of course I couldn't resist using my White Rabbit Grunge Collage along with Sizzix's "Happy Holidays" Fold-A-Long die set to make some elegant and unusual Easter Bunny cards🐰  The card shape totally reminds me of an egg too, how much fun is that!  Lets get started😋

Start off by creating coloured backgrounds with Distress Oxides.  I used Mermaid Lagoon, Blueprint Sketch, Wilted Violet, Candied Apple and Squeezed Lemonade.  Dab the inks onto a craft sheet, spritz with water and smoosh mixed media cardstock onto the inks.  Dry the cardstock with a heat tool and print out the White Rabbit Grunge Collage.

Die cut out the card base from black cardstock.  I altered the layout slightly by making the inside panel narrower to eliminate the cut out that would normally be down the center.

Die cut out the card base again from yellow cardstock.   Cut out each section with scissors before embossing each piece with KaiserCraft's Card Suits embossing folder.

Adhere all the embossed panels to the black card base with your favourite adhesive.

Die cut out the White Rabbit using the insert panel die and edge it with a metallic gold paint pen.  Adhere the panel to black cardstock and fussy cut it out leaving a narrow border.  Line the White Rabbit panel up on the folded card to determine the center and cut it in half.

Apply Fired Brick Distress Ink to all the panels to colour and enhance the embossed design.

Adhere the White Rabbit panels to the card front and apply Black Soot Distress Ink to the panel edges.

Do the same to the edges inside the card too.

I made my own sentiment panel for the inside of the card by using the insert die as a stencil and cut it out with scissors.  Stamp the Easter Greetings sentiment with Onyx Black Versafine ink and edge the panel in metallic gold.  Mat on black cardstock and cut out leaving a narrow border to match the White Rabbit panel on the front of the card.

Add a touch of sparkle to the White Rabbit design with clear Wink of Stella and gold Spectrum Noir Sparkle pens.

Add metallic gold gel pen details and clear Wink of Stella sparkle to the stamped sentiment and embellish with flowers and leaves die cut from the Distress Oxides cardstock and black cardstock.  Edge a flower, all the leaves and colour one flower with the metallic gold paint pen then complete the card with black 3D Inkssentials Glossy Accents applied to the centers of both flowers.

I hope you enjoyed my tutorial and have been inspired to make your own Wonderland themed Easter cards this year🐰  Tip:  make them even more special by writing your personalized messages on the other side, metallic gold on black cardstock is fun and elegant😋

Luck o' the Irish card by Leigh!

🍀Happy St. Patrick's Day Creative Friends🍀

🍀May the dreams you hold dearest
be those which come true
and the kindness you spread
keep returning to you🍀

For today's inspiration I'm sharing the card I made using all the designs in the Oddleigh Leprechaun Set🍀  I created the background with the 4 Leaf Clover decorative corner and printed it out onto cardstock done with Nuance Powders then edged with Black Soot Distress Ink and metallic gold paint pen.

The Oddleigh Leprechaun is the smallest you ever did see!  He's tiny at only 2.25 inches tall from the top of his hat to the tips of his shoes and 1 inch wide.  Colouring him with Sketch Copics was an exercise in patience and a light hand but I wanted the focal design to fit inside that Spellbinders "Fleur de Elegance" die coz it reminds me of a harp.  I used a white Dylusions paint pen to add highlights and a metallic gold gel pen for all the buckles and buttons.  I applied Black Soot Distress Ink to the die cut and then generously applied metallic gold to it with Spectrum Noir Sparkle glitter pen...it sparkles delightfully in the sun but so hard to photograph.  I also added touches of gold sparkle to all the coins, the 4 leaf clovers and edged the sentiment banner too.  The background and rainbow was done with Derwent Pastels blended with a Dove Blender pen and star bursts added with white acrylic paint.  A bright yellow polka dot ribbon and bow finished the card off nicely.
