Spotlight Technique Tutorial

Hi everyone!

Val here and I'm excited to share my card tutorial featuring our new gorgeous First Christmas digi depicting Baby's first Christmas.  This must have design is now on FLASH SALE at 25% off until midnight tonight pacific time🎅🏻

 Today I'm demonstrating the Spotlight technique which means you take a portion of the image and you "spotlight" it so it stands out from the rest of the design.

I began by printing out the image twice onto Neenah white cardstock.

I used the first print for the base of the card and the second print for the "spotlight" areas.  From the second print I fussy cut out just the baby and a few of the toys.

I coloured up the "spotlight" pieces with the Spectrum Noir Colorista markers shown below.

Sakura pens were used to highlight parts of image and to add some festive sparkle.

I used Spectrum Noir flesh toned pencil to colour the face and hands. 

 

 I adhered Tim Holtz Glitter Rock Candy with a Quickie Glue pen to all the fur areas of the Santa suit to add fun texture.

I then trimmed the base image and adhered the fussy cut pieces to it with pop dots.  Then adhered the panel onto black cardstock using PVA glue and again onto Neenah white card, leaving narrow borders on both mats.

  I stamped the Merry Christmas sentiment onto Neenah white card with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink, trimmed and adhered the text to black cardstock and trimmed again leaving a narrow border.  I completed my card by adhering the text along the bottom edge of the card.
The finished card measures 5.5 inches x 5.5 inches.

Durer Art Nudes - Lost Coast Designs DT!

Hello Friends!
We're midway through our August Challenge "Watercolour Backgrounds" over at Lost Coast Designs event and challenge blog, Lost Coast Portal to Creativity!

I made these Art Nude tags featuring 2 of Lost Coast Designs Durer Women, Balancing Vixen and Backside Woman.

These started out as standard white shipping tags and I created the watercolour backgrounds with Nuance pigment powders.  Lost Coast Designs carries all the colours including the 5 new ones which will be up in the store soon but you can request them now if you want to order them.  I'll be featuring these two tags in more detail over at Lost Coaster's Review on August 18th so please stop by for more info!
