Howzit Everyone!
It's time for our new challenge over at Forever Dark...sadly March is the last one due to entry participation not being what we had hoped for :0(
Thank you to all the wonderful sponsors and to all the fans that did support us, we enjoyed creating with your digi stamps and appreciated all the fabulous dark art you shared with us!

I now have 3 new Facebook Groups that you might like to come and join and I may start up a dark art challenge blog in the future, I'll see how things go!

DREADPUNK - For Fans of Gothic Art and Design!
EVERYTHING-PUNK! For Artistic Fans of all the Era Inspired Subcultures!
Which covers everything from Steampunk to "insert-cool-historical-period-or-innovative-concept-here-punk"!
EGYPT - Share your Egyptian Inspired Art & Design!

Now for my inspiration project for Forever Dark!  March is Anything Goes and the side theme was to be Sinister Easter but coz it's our last challenge the theme was dropped.

Lilleth and the Lillies

I had an absolute blast creating this piece and I'm very pleased with how she turned out.  I made a paper art project that is approximately 8 x 10 inches in size.  Her hair consists of a 3 layer cascade of fussy cut curls and the flowers consist of 1-3 layers of fussy cut and curled dimensional layers too.  The full image is matted onto colour coordinating cardstock and then onto black, the mats were cut with my Perfect Paper Layers tools

I printed Lilleth and Lillies out onto Neenah solar white cardstock and coloured her with Copic markers and highlights added with a white gel pen once the entire piece was completed.  I scanned the coloured image into Photoshop CS6 and printed her out 3 times.  I selected all the elements I wanted to layer and fussy cut out all the pieces which were then curled and adhered in place with a combination of Scotch Quick Dry adhesive and black pop dots.

In the photo above you can see all the glorious curls!

The collage photo above shows all the other layered areas - the 3 large Stargazer lillies, the bottom left Calla lilly and the floral-pearl  hair decoration piece.

Thank you for stopping by!

Steampunk digital art using an iPad - DT post for Forever Dark Challenges!

Howzit Everyone!
Our current challenge over at Forever Dark Challenges is Anything Goes with an optional twist and January is STEAMPUNK!

We have 2 fabulous sponsors this month

That Craft Place
And

You can see the projects I made for That Craft Place HERE and HERE!
Today I'm sharing the project I made for Stitchy Bear Stamps using this fabulous lady called Steampunk - 3 piece set by BBKakes.

I've been working on developing my skills in using an awesome application called Paper 53 and colouring on my iPad using a stylus.  Contrary to popular belief, doing digital art in Photoshop or similiar applications is not cheating or easy to do in the slightest and all who do digital work agree, it can be even more time consuming than doing traditional colouring on paper with markers and coloured pencils!  It is also super fun to have if you travel a lot and can't take all your supplies with you.  I was in the UK for Christmas when I started working on this one and it probably took me a total of 6 hours to complete so I'm getting better at it and I'm now developing my style on how I like to digi colour.

I got a new stylus for Christmas that I just LOVE!!!!  It's a PAINT BRUSH, squeal of delight!!!!!
The stylus is by Sensu and it's a paint brush and stylus two-in-one!

I used the brush part to lay down a watercolour base with the watercolour brush app tool and then a combination of the brush and the stylus to colour with the pencil app tool.  A LOT of colouring took place here and I'm really thrilled with how this project turned out :0)

See you over at Forever Dark Challenges and Have a great weekend!

Lady Steampunk - Forever Dark DT

Howzit Friends!
I hope you all had a fabulous Christmas and New Year!
We're kicking of 2016 with a brand new challenge over at Forever Dark Challenge blog!
Challenge #8 is Anything Goes as long as it's Dark with a twist and January is STEAMPUNK!

Our clawesome sponsor this month is That Craft Place and I had the pleasure of creating with a sassy lady called How Do!

Here's 2 projects using her, the first is a candle luminary and the second is a digi creation.

showing the magical transformation in candlelight

The image is coloured with Copic markers and I used a clock embossing folder by Darice on the image and the sides of the luminary which are made from brown cardstock and the design enhanced with Tea Dye and Black Soot Distress Inks.

Here's my 2nd project...a full on digi creation.

I hope I've inspired you to come and join in the fun this year, see you over at Forever Dark!

Forever Dark Poinsettias!

Howzit Everyone!
Today is also the start of our new challenge over on our Forever Dark Challenge blog!
Challenge #7 is Anything Goes so come and enter your "DARK" projects for the chance to win a prize from our clawesome sponsor this month, IKE'S ART!

I had the absolute pleasure of creating with Ike's Poinsettia Fairy and made this mixed media Creepmas card for your inspiration!

I started out by printing her onto Neenah solar white cardstock and coloured her with Copics.  Of course I had to go dark with this one and had fun giving her a wintery skin tone, red eyes and black poinsettias!  Once she was complete I scanned her and finished the digi card in Photoshop CS6 by creating the foggy background, the oval frame and repeating the poinsettias along the bottom edge.

Thanks for stopping by and hope to see you over at Forever Dark!

Happy Holidays and Merry Creepmas!

Gimme Candy - Forever Dark DT project

Howzit Everyone!
It's time for a new challenge over at Forever Dark Challenges!
As always it's anything goes as long as it is "DARK" whether it be light hearted, creepy cute or down right scary, all are welcome!

Our fabulous sponsor this month is

I had fun creating with Pop culture zombie girl!

This is another full on digital art piece created in Photoshop CS6 and Paper 53.
I started out by colouring the zombie girl on my iPad using a stylus and an awesome drawing application called Paper 53.  I had an absolute blast working on this piece although it took many many hours to complete.  Many people think it's faster and easier to create and colour digis in Photoshop but that's an incorrect assumption.  It actually takes way longer, images can take many hours and even days to colour before even getting to project assembly.  Once I was happy with my zombie I then moved over to Photoshop and completed my project with the addition of the text and background layers.

This is another full on digital art piece but this time I did not use my precious Photoshop CS6.  I created this one on my iPad using an awesome drawing application called Paper 53.  I had an absolute blast working on this piece although it took many many hours to complete working with a stylus and a limited drawing application when compared to using Photoshop and a Wacom tablet.
Challenges entered:

My project made Top 3 in Ike's Art Challenges, YAY :0)

"Marie Antoinette" for Forever Dark Challenge #4!

Howzit Everyone!
It's time for a new challenge over at Forever Dark Challenges!
#4 has begun and as always it's anything goes as long as it is "DARK"!
But now, please don't let that 'word' put you off because just like art is subjective, so is the definition of dark which really can be anything from just plain odd, creepy cute, eerie, spooky, scary, sinister or downright horrifying!  We welcome it all so stop by and join in the fun....if you dare bwahahahaha ;0)

Our fabulous sponsor this month is
Jade Dragonne
Did you know that she allows you to use her images for free as long as you credit her and link to her Deviant Art page?  Her digi images are to die for so pop on over and grab some and enter your makes in our challenge!

Here's my DT share for September!
I could not resist "Marie Antoinette" and she did not let me down, what a fabulous image she proved to be.  I'm going to enjoy doing a million different colour schemes with her!

Even though she's definitely got a dark and twisty vibe I decided to side step my fave dark colour palette and went for pastels!  I started out by creating the background in Photoshop CS6 with a gradient colour palette, manipulated an image of spidery lace, added Marie, worked lots of digi magic with light, shading and shadows and printed it out on Neenah solar white cardstock.  I then coloured her with Copics, added metallic gold details with a gel pen and embellished with Magic Transparent White details with a Vive Pearl 3D pen...which you can see on her buttons, the little bugs and in the dots on spider web corners.

I completed my card by matting her on pastel pink cardstock and cut the narrow border with my Perfect Layers tools and added the panel to a sheet of black cardstock folded in half to make a card.

"Spirits of the Dead" Poe art for Forever Dark Challenges DT

Howzit Friends!
I'm back today to share the 2nd project I made for the launch of our new 'dark and twisty' challenge blog called Forever Dark Challenges!  We have TWO fangtastic sponsors this month and we had the pleasure of creating with the digi images they provided us with!  On Tuesday I blogged about the card featuring digi stamps by ArtiDoodles, click HERE to go check it out if you missed it, Teri's images are simply divine!  Now I'm thrilled to share the card made with Ike's fabulous digis!

June 22 Update:  Yay!  This Poe project won the Ike's World #39 Challenge, Squeeee! :0)

Ike is offering 3 digi images
Teri is offering 3 digi images

Delicious Doodles Stamp
 "Spirits of the Dead"

 "Be silent in that solitude,
   Which is not loneliness—for then
The spirits of the dead who stood
In life before thee are again
In death around thee—and their will
Shall overshadow thee: be still."
E.A. Poe "Spirits of the Dead"

And just for fun my beautiful Gothess, Evangeline Ghastly, wanted to pose with her favourite poet ;0)
I combined the image of the women with the raven "Poe's Death Bed" with "Candle Poe"
in Photoshop CS6 and printed out the image onto Neenah Solar White cardstock.  To create the fancy fold card I scored where I wanted the fold on either side of Poe's head and then fussy cut the portion that was above the scored line with an Xacto knife.  Once his head was free I folded the card in half.
I coloured the images with Copic markers and the background was done with Derwent Pastel pencils and blended with a Dove blender pen.

Come and indulge your dark side and play in our Forever Dark Challenges!
