Manga Blue for Lost Coast Designs

Happy Saturday Everyone!
Today I'm sharing a Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda DT project I made for our current monthly challenge over at Lost Coast Portal to Creativity, our dedicated event and challenge blog!

The theme this month is Single Layer.  The challenge ends on Sept 25 so there's still time to get in your entries!  I hope you'll join us!

I used the following 2 of our newest stamps to make my Single Layer card

I started out by stamping this lovely new lady to our Lost Coast Designs Manga collection with Tuxedo Black Memento ink onto Neenah solar white cardstock and coloured her with Copic markers and added metallic silver detailing with a gel pen.  I love working with the blue/purple colour combo and miss Manga Goth Dots is looking super sassy in those shades!  I used a torn piece of scrap paper to mask her area off and stamped the background swirl design, which is also new to our Carmen's Veranda line and has a nice grungy feel to it, with Peacock Feathers Distress Ink.  I then used a water colour pen to blur and bleed the design a bit as well as adding more ink with an ink applicator sponge and also worked in some Tea Dye Distress Ink too.  I removed the mask and coloured the exposed background with a brown Derwent Pastel pencil that was blended with a Dove Blender pen and then I added a touch of Peacock Feathers Distress Ink too.  Boy was it hard not to add some kind of embellie to this project coz it was for our Single Layer challenge after all so I blinged it up a bit while adding the illusion of layers by adding Crystal Stickles glitter glue lines over the 2 masked edges and a touch of sparkle to the roses on her Alice band.

I hope I've inspired you to try your hand at creating a single layer project and look forward to seeing your projects in our challenges!

In case you didn't know, something wicked is heading our way...wink wink!  October is just around the corner so become a follower of our Lost Coast Portal to Creativity blog so you don't miss a thing, there's going to be tons of prizes up for grabs ;0)

Steampunk Grumpies - Smeared and Smudged blog hop & new digi release

Howzit Everyone!
Today is our Smeared and Smudged FB group's monthly member blog hop and the theme this month is Steampunk!  We, the Smeared Ink design team, are also excited to introduce you to the newest members of SI's Grumpie collection, Steampunk Grumpies.

I had the pleasure of creating with Top Hat Steampunk Grumpie and made 2 projects for this hop and the new image release.  You probably got here from Susan's blog and your next stop is Rebecca.  Here's the blog roll for you to hop along with us!  Enjoy!

SMEARED AND SMUDGED MEMBER BLOG HOP

I had fun creating this Grumpie Mob card announcing the arrival of the new Steampunk Grumpies...they're Heeeeere!  LOL

My 2nd project is an ATC with a very Gentlemanly sentiment from a quote by Brian McKnight that I thought was perfect for my Top Hat Steampunk Grumpie.

I created both projects in Photoshop CS6 first and then printed them out on Neenah solar white cardstock.  The Grumpies are coloured with Copic markers with metallic gold gel pen and Promarker details.   The backgrounds are done with a sienna brown Derwent pastel pencil and a Dove Blender pen.  I distressed the edges of both with Tim's Paper Distresser tool and edged with gold Promarker and I applied Tea Dye Distress Ink to the Grumpie mob background.  The ATC is mounted onto black cardstock and the card panel is matted onto lime and apple green cardstocks, borders cut with my Perfect Layers tools, then black cardstock folded to make the card.  But before I adhered it to the black card I pressed the edges of the panel inside a long Cuttlebug cogs and gears embossing folder and highlighted the embossed design with metallic silver rub-on cream.

"Something Wicked this Way Comes" a Smeared Ink DT project

Howzit Everyone!
We're midway though our current challenge over at Smudgy Antics which is always Anything Goes with a twist and this month it's
 'FEELING A LITTLE GRUMPY'
If you haven't heard yet, Smeared Ink's store is BACK and open for business so pop over and check out all the fabulous new digi images and then come and join us over at Smudgy Antics!

Here's my DT share for this week!  I'm getting into the mood for Halloween so made a project using one of SI's new digi images called East, she is the witch floating in on the night breeze.  She's really scaring my Lil Grumpie, one of SI's orginal Grumpie digis and the landscape is a partial of SI's Rusalka digi.  The Grumpies are now available in a Grumpie rubber stamp pack HERE!

I designed this entire project in Photoshop CS6.  I started with creating the foggy background for my sky then added in the various digi layers.  Here's a close up of the East witch and you can also see the drifting "Something Wicked this Way Comes" text I added to the sky which I blurred and manipulated to look like it's drifting in the breeze.  Cool huh ;0)

See you over at Smudgy Antics!

"Marie Antoinette" for Forever Dark Challenge #4!

Howzit Everyone!
It's time for a new challenge over at Forever Dark Challenges!
#4 has begun and as always it's anything goes as long as it is "DARK"!
But now, please don't let that 'word' put you off because just like art is subjective, so is the definition of dark which really can be anything from just plain odd, creepy cute, eerie, spooky, scary, sinister or downright horrifying!  We welcome it all so stop by and join in the fun....if you dare bwahahahaha ;0)

Our fabulous sponsor this month is
Jade Dragonne
Did you know that she allows you to use her images for free as long as you credit her and link to her Deviant Art page?  Her digi images are to die for so pop on over and grab some and enter your makes in our challenge!

Here's my DT share for September!
I could not resist "Marie Antoinette" and she did not let me down, what a fabulous image she proved to be.  I'm going to enjoy doing a million different colour schemes with her!

Even though she's definitely got a dark and twisty vibe I decided to side step my fave dark colour palette and went for pastels!  I started out by creating the background in Photoshop CS6 with a gradient colour palette, manipulated an image of spidery lace, added Marie, worked lots of digi magic with light, shading and shadows and printed it out on Neenah solar white cardstock.  I then coloured her with Copics, added metallic gold details with a gel pen and embellished with Magic Transparent White details with a Vive Pearl 3D pen...which you can see on her buttons, the little bugs and in the dots on spider web corners.

I completed my card by matting her on pastel pink cardstock and cut the narrow border with my Perfect Layers tools and added the panel to a sheet of black cardstock folded in half to make a card.

Our challenge this month is as always
ANYTHING GOES....
with a TWIST OF
 'FEELING A LITTLE GRUMPY'
if your mojo needs a little prod!
The only requirement is that you use a
SMEARED INK image....

I had a blast creating this not so happy birthday card, isn't he a real grumpie-puss, he perked up when he saw his presents and birthday cake though ;0)

This one is pretty much a CAS card (clean and simple), by my standards anyway coz there's no layered cardstock, no fussy cutting and no 3D embellies.  I stamped Smeared Ink's Birthday Grumpie onto white cardstock with Tuxedo Black Memento ink and coloured him with Copics.  The birthday sentiment is part of the Occasions Grumpies set and I stamped it a few times and crossed them out to show you just how grumpie this little guy really is...maybe he really wanted a pink balloon, who knows?  I drew a rectangle around the one Happy Birthday and coloured the interior with Copics too.  I used a brown Derwent Pastel pencil to add the shadow shading around him and blended it with a Dove Blender pen.  For just a touch of birthday sparkle I added yellow glitter glue to the tassel on his hat.  He is really cute in his grumpie-ness isn't he LOL!

Here's the Smeared Ink DT blog roll for the hop!
