"Day of the Dead Angel" 3D Tree Topper - LCPtoC Day of the Dead Celebrations

The fun over at Lost Coast Portal to Creativity doesn't end with today's finale of 31 Days of Halloween as we roll straight on into our Day of the Dead Celebrations!

Starting today through to November 2nd we will have daily offerings for the traditional 3 days of Dia de Muertos followed up with reminder posts during the rest of November too!
Everyone is invited to come and join the fun and enter rubber stamped projects in the linky party on today's post HERE!

My DOTD project today features a new addition to the Lost Coast Designs stamp line, a gorgeous Day of the Dead Angel and she's available in two sizes, 5 inches and ATC size.

I used the 5 inch version and made a 3D Angel for my black Halloween tree.

I stamped her onto Neenah solar white cardstock twice in Onxy Black Memento ink and fussy cut out one entire image and then just the flowers from the wings, the largest flower on her skirt, her skirt bustle, upper body and her halo from the 2nd.  I coloured everything with Copics and embellished her gown with red jewels.  For extra dimension and sparkle I added touches of Viva Pearl magic transparent white dimensional paint to the entire image.

To make the tree topper I cut a piece of acetate and formed a cone.  I then curved the main angel to fit the curve of the cone and adhered it in place with double sided sticky tape and adhered the fussy cut layers to the main image with pop dots.  The finishing touch is her halo which is attached to a thin strip of acetate so it floats above her head.

Thanks for stopping by to see my project!  I hope you'll come and join me over at Lost Coast Portal to Creativity with the fun never ends!

Happy Haunting!

Now for my finale project inspired by one of my fave Seal songs, "Kiss From a Rose".

"Kissed by a Rose on a Grave" Coffin Trinket Box

Featuring the following stamps:
Lost Coast Designs
large Articulated Skeleton
long stemmed Rose Bud
large Spiderwebs background

Carmen's Veranda
large Heads and Roses background

I found these really cool coffin boxes in the dollar deals section of Target and started out by dismantling the box by removing the hinges and the latch and used the box pieces themselves to create a template.  I traced each section of the box;  the top, sides, base etc onto white cardstock and stamped the large Heads and Roses background on the lid part in Tuxedo Black Memento ink a few times to cover the entire area and the large Spiderwebs background on the back and all the sides.  I coloured the Heads and Roses image with Copics and then cut out all the panels and adhered them to the box with Scotch Quick Dry adhesive, trimmed away any excess overlap and then applied Tea Dye, Aged Mahogany and Black Soot Distress Inks to the entire piece with foam ink applicators.  I then reassembled the box and got to work on the 3D lid decoration.

First, I embellished the lid front and the back with a large self-adhesive design in black jewels by Recollections.  I stamped the large Articulated Skeleton and the Rose Bud in Tuxedo Black Memento ink twice each onto white cardstock and coloured with Copics.  I then fussy cut out all the pieces, curved the skull, hands, rose bud and the leaves to enhance the 3D effect I was going for and assembled the pieces to form a skeleton hugging a rose to its chest and adhered everything to the lid with Quick Dry adhesive and pop dots.  I love how it turned out.

Thanks for stopping by to see my project today!

HAPPY HAUNTING!

"Sad Sally Coffin Box" altered box for The East Wind DT!

Howzit Friends!
It's time for our 2nd Challenge for October over at The East Wind!  The theme for Challenge #65 is "Bump in the Night" and we're looking for projects that incorporate embossing!

The East Wind is also currently participating in a special Halloween blog hop, Oct 13 through to Oct 31st called "Trick or Treat around the Blogs".  The hop is hosted by the sponsors of the Markers! Papers! Digis Facebook group.  All participating companies have fun "Tricks" or "Treats" in store for you!  Join the fun by hopping to each blog and see what Trick or Treat fun you can get up to!
All the deets and the blog hop roll is HERE!
The East Wind has a Treat for you, our new "Halloween Hop" digi called Thorns and Roses is only a $1 during the event!  I couldn't resist using her for my DT inspiration project for our new Challenge!
I have a cute little resin goth Tonner doll called Sad Sally and TEW digi reminded me of her so I decided to make her a coffin 'display and storage' box with this awesome black coffin trinket box I got in the "deals" aisle of Target...happy dance...and turned it into this beauty!

I started out by creating a template of the coffin box front and elongated the digi and sized it to fit in Photoshop CS6 and printed out the whole design once and then two prints of just the roses.  I coloured the entire image and all the roses, including the 2 additional prints, with Copic markers except for her face and body which was done in Prismacolor pencils.  I also used black Prismacolor pencil to add more shading and shadows to the Copic coloured areas as well.  I then cut out the design in the shape of the coffin and fussy cut out all the rose pieces.  I then embossed 2 sheets of red cardstock with the large Craftwell letter/A4 sized embossing folder called Regency and ran them through my eBosser machine.  I dismantled the coffin box and used the box pieces themselves to trace out each panel onto the embossed cardstock.  I then cut out all the pieces, glued them to the box and re-assembled it.  Then I applied Black Soot Distress Ink to enhance the embossed design and give it that gorgeous dark red colour.  I completed the outside of the box by adhering the design to the front and layered up all the roses with pop dots.

For the comfort of my little Sad Sally I added a beautiful yellow satin fabric to the interior.

Sad Sally loves her new box.

Is that a glimmer of a smile I see?  Hard to tell coz she's such a sad lil ghoul.

Come and join the fun at The East Wind...we have 2 blog challenges every month and fun challenges on on our TEW Facebook Group too!

"Poe Memoratus in Aeternum" Artist Trading Block - Day 7 of 31 Days of Halloween at LCPtoC!

Howzit Everyone!
Are you hopping along in the spooktacular annual 31 Days of Halloween blog hop?  It's Day 7 already and the Lost Coast LCDesigners are putting on quite a show over at Lost Coast Portal to Creativity!  Come and join the fun!

It's my turn again to share a project today and this time I'm paying homage to Edgar Allan Poe who died on this day in 1849.  I designed an Artist Trading Block in "memoratus in aeternum" to Poe which is Latin for "remembered unto the eternal".

Lost Coast Designs unveiled some fabulous new stamps this month and I couldn't resist using 3 of them along with some of my all time favourites!  The new ones are Gears, Large Perspective Grid and an ATC sized version of our large Doodles Circles.   I also used Bird Bones, Skull Flourish, Raven with Tree Branches and the star of the show is our fangtastic Edgar Allan Poe portrait from  our Carmen's Veranda line.  The "Nevermore" text is also a Carmen's Veranda stamp not up on the site so be sure to inquire about it if you can't resist placing an order.....you know you want to mwahahaha!  Pop on over to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity to see detailed photos of each side of my Poe ATB today!

"The Hound of the Baskervilles" a Delicious Doodles DT card!

Howzit Everyone!
YAY!  It's October and the countdown to Halloween is underway mwahahahaha!

This month over at Delicious Doodles it's spooky and dark and our October theme is Halloween!
I went retro horror with my DT project and created an acetate card with The classic Sherlock Holmes tale, The Hound of the Baskervilles.

I created this scene card with an acetate front that folds open from the right using the following Delicious Doodles digi stamps:
Call of the Wild, Haunting Moon and A Scottish Castle

I sized and merged the digis in Photoshop CS6 before printing them all out onto Neenah solar white cardstock.  I mainly coloured everything with Prismacolor pencils but Copic markers on the castle, the stonework and the hound as well.

The panels were trimmed and layered onto black cardstock folded in an asymmetrical layout.  I keep a lot of stuff for recycling and upcycling...I might have a little hoarder issue going on but what artist doesn't right LOL ;0)  Anyway, the acetate is actually a piece cut from an embossing folder's packaging and I adhered the acetate to the inside of the front flap and then adhered the Sizzix Hunky Dory die cut letters to the front.

Here's a better look at the cover and inside of the card.

"7 GATES to PURGATORY"

I'm kicking off the proceedings today over at LCPtoC with my altered wooden container that was a match made in Heaven Hell to feature our New Release Stamp RIP!

Here it is in all it's colourful crackled glory with skull beads for feet

The geometric sides of the container are actually coffin shaped and it has seven sides so I could not resist the Seven Deadly Sins theme.  All the text was computer generated and coloured with a metallic gold gel pen.  Mark your calendars for October 17th and pop on over to Lost Coaster's Review for more info on how I made my project!  I hope you will join me ;0)

"Stay Sassy! Stay Strong!" Breast Cancer Awareness month with The EastWind!

Howzit Friends!
It's time for our new bi-monthly challenge over at The East Wind and today I'm sharing my DT inspiration project featuring October's Newsletter Freebie!

The theme for Challenge #64 is "In The Pink" for Breast Cancer Awareness month!

Way too many of us have been effected by Breast Cancer either directly or have supported family members and friends as they've battled through it!  I'm proud to say I'm a 15 year Breast Cancer survivor myself and I'm so grateful for the support of my loving family and friends!
THANK YOU!!!

I created this Notepad with the inspirational message to all our Sisters to STAY SASSY and STAY STRONG! and Fight Like a Girl!

I printed the image out onto Neenah solar white cardstock and coloured her hair with Copic markers and the rest of the image with Prismacolor pencils with additional shading and shadows added to the hair with Prismacolor pencils too.  I outlined the entire image with a black Copic fine liner leaving a narrow white border between the line and the image to make her really pop.  I then fussy cut her out and trimmed off some of the image on the right to fit the notepad cover I made.

The cover was easy to make.  I used heavy weight white cardstock and used the notepad as a template.  I cut the cardstock .25 inches larger than the notepad and selected a more subtle and feminine decorative paper to contrast with the bold and bright digi image and covered the outside and the inside.  Before adhering the DP to the inside I sandwiched in the two ribbon pieces.

I then decorated the cover with two decorative corner accents die cut from black cardstock (Sizzix Corner Accent die) and the text which I designed in Photoshop CS6 and matted on black cardstock.  I finished it over with a few random dimensional drops of black Inkssentials Enamel Accents.
