'Steampunk Caprica 6' a Third Coast Coterie project

Hello Everyone!

I'm hosting a new challenge at the Third Coast Creative Challenge blog and the theme is Steampunk Pink!  Before you dash off to start creating your entries check out my Steampunk Pink project titled "Steampunk Caprica 6"!

Some of you might get the title straight away but for those of you who aren't watchers of scifi-fantasy TV shows I shall explain ;0)  In the new version of Battlestar Galactica the Cylons evolved from robots into human-like cyborgs.  The main Cylon was model #6 and she was a blonde and there were a few versions of her and one of them became known as Caprica Six.  Now you see where I'm going with this one ;0)  However, I'm also a Firefly fan and I loved the Steampunk vibe of the series.  So my Steampunk project depicts what the #6 Cylon would have looked like if BSG had taken place in the Firefly universe...yes, this is the kind of thing that goes on in my head LOL ;0)

The use of the colour pink is dominant coz of the current Third Coast challenge of course and the star of the show is Third Coast's stamp called Geared Up (KG-058-X)!

The Owl and the PussyCat - another Blockheads' FairyTale Project!

Hello Everyone!
I'm thrilled to bits that you all enjoyed my 'Tea Time Hissy Fit' fairytale project so much, thank you for all the wonderful comments you left for me :0)

I'm back today with another fun 'Fringe Fairytail' project for Blockheads Paper Arts and this time we're going to sea with the Owl and the Pussycat!  This one measures 7.50 inches x 7.25 inches.

I was inspired by the poem by Edward Lear.

The Owl and the Pussy-cat went to sea
In a beautiful pea green boat,
They took some honey, and plenty of money,
Wrapped up in a five pound note.
The Owl looked up to the stars above,
And sang to a small guitar,
'O lovely Pussy! O Pussy my love,
What a beautiful Pussy you are,
          You are,
          You are!
What a beautiful Pussy you are!'...

But in my little scenario the Steampunk-esque Owl and Pussycat are just best buddies off on an amazing adventure and admiring the stars on the way ;0)

"Tea Time Hissy Fit" - when things go horribly wrong at a Wonderland tea party!

Once upon another day in Wonderland at another Mad Hatter Tea Party....

I was excited to find an invite to the party when I got home from spying on all the guests and I see you all did too so welcome to the party!  I'm so glad you all decided to dress up in the Steampunk style too, the Mad Hatter will be so pleased :0)

Pull up a chair and help yourself to some tea and cake....UHO, what is all that ruckus about?

Oh NO!  The Mad Hatter is making fun of the Cheshire Cat's wings...the horror...and...oh my, the Cheshire Cat is throwing a huge hissy fit!!!!

....a few seconds later....

Oh dear, the Cheshire Cat just stalked off in a huff...well that was an unfortunate turn of events!

Well, you're all here now so I may as well tell you how I created my "Tea Time Hissy Fit" diorama while you enjoy your tea and cake ;0)

See my Mad Hatter, Cheshire Cat, Royal Rooster and the Rocketeer posts to see how this project began with Blockheads' new Fringe Folktails stamp set and then continue reading!

Who else is going to the 'Tea Party'? Intro #3

The fairytail continues....so quick story recap...

Once upon another day in Wonderland some very quirky characters are excitedly getting ready to attend a steampunk themed costume Tea Party.

We've already peeked in on the Mad Hatter and the Cheshire Cat getting ready for the party so let's see who else we can spy on ;0)

Oh my, looks like we've stumbled upon the Royal Rooster and his best friend, The Rocketeer!  They are ready and heading off to the party already!  Don't they look like a handsome pair ;0)

The Royal Rooster
The Rocketeer
Both of these feathered beauties are from Blockheads Paper Arts' brand new Steampunk-esque "Fringe Folktails" and in celebration of the launch the set is currently on sale for $12!

Stamp both images with Tuxedo Black Memento ink onto Neenah Solar White cardstock and colour with the following Copic Sketch markers

All the feathers are coloured with a combo of E0000, 000, 11, 13, 15, 18 and 41.  The Rooster's Head gear: E15 and 09, Crown: Y17 and 23 with W1 and C3 to give it a tarnished gold effect and also add some shadows.  Beaks:  Y17 and 23 with R39 and 46 on the Rooster.  Talons: Y17 and 23.  Owl's eyes are G09 and all the Steampunk get-up: W1, 3, 5, C0, 3 and 5.

Complete the look with touches of metallic silver and gold Promarkers with hightlights of white gel pen.  Completely cut out the images with a pair of sharp detail scissors.  Add Judikins Diamond Glaze to the Owl's googles for a glass-like finish.

So it looks like we've met everyone that is invited to the Mad Hatter's Tea Party.  Let's head on over and see if we can grab a cup of tea and a piece of cake when no one is looking..... ;0)

Happy Stamping!

Steampunk 'Tea Party' character intro #2 ;0)

The fairytail story continues....

Once upon another day in Wonderland some very quirky characters are excitedly getting ready to attend a steampunk themed costume Tea Party.

We've already peeked in on the Mad Hatter getting ready for the party so let's see who else we can spy on ;0)

Ah, look, there's the Cheshire Cat, and oh my, what on earth is he wearing?  Are those wings?

The Cheshire Cat is from the same set as the Mad Hatter, Blockheads Paper Arts' brand new Steampunk-esque "Fringe Folktails" and in celebration of the launch the set is currently on sale for $12!

Stamp the winged kitty with Tuxedo Black Memento ink onto Neenah Solar White cardstock.  I decided to go with the Disney colour scheme for my Cheshire Cat so that he would be instantly recognizable and coloured him with the following Copic Sketch markers:

Fur and Wings: V01, 06, 15, 17, RV10 and 13
Steampunk get-up: W1, 3, 5, C0, 3 and 5.

Complete the look with touches of metallic silver Promarkers with hightlights of white gel pen.  Completely cut out the entire image with a pair of sharp detail scissors.
Okay, we'd better leave kitty to it and see who else we can spy on....

Happy Stamping!

The Mad Hatter is from Blockheads Paper Arts' brand new Steampunk-esque "Fringe Folktails" stamp set and in celebration of the launch the set is currently on sale for $12!

Getting 'Alice' Arty with Paper Artsy - Blockheads DT projects

Hello Everyone!

This week I had the pleasure of playing around with a great stamp image from the Paper Artsy by Lynne Perella collection now available at Blockheads Paper Arts!  My fellow DT mates are also creating with Paper Artsy stamps so check out the growing inlinkz collection at the end of my post for more great ideas!

I adore all things Alice and you might have even spotted her featured on my blog logo above ;0)  I'm always in the mood for creating Alice in Wonderland themed projects and I've submitted some to the Just Steampunk II call so hopefully you'll get to see them soon, keep your fingers crossed ;0)  I had a blast creating the two paper art pieces above using the same image from the Royalty LPC007 set.

"Bird Song" Mini Vellum Book & Blockheads Paper Arts new Mini Book Challenge!

Hello Everyone!

It's new challenge time again over at Blockheads Paper Arts and this time Trisha has demoed how to do 2 very easy mini book binding techniques!  Here's my take on the Mini Book Challenge.  I created a really cute mini book made out of vellum using a combination of stamped images coloured with water-based markers and embossing folders!
