I'm back for Day 3 of our 31 Days of Halloween SPOOKtivities with my
PURRtastic "Feline Spooky" Slimline book panel featuring a Loveleigh
Kitty and matching senti from my new CAToWeen 2024 Loveleigh Kitties Halloween Collection and my wicked awesome FUNdamental Foundations Slimline Coffins Nesting SVG Cutz set for electronic cutting machines.
Hocus Pocus Loveleigh Kitty is the star of today's book panel. Plus, you might have noticed already that the purple bottle is decorated with one of my stunning Apothercary Labels included in the Furness Forest Apothecary Labels Set #1 from the Shadows Rising 2022 Collection. I
coloured this charming kitty digitally in Adobe Fresco, printed her out in all her magical colourful glory and then fussy cut her out with scissors leaving a
narrow white border that makes her pop nicely against the background
papers.
Isn't
she enchanting in her traditional star studded witch hat, Trinity Knot charm collar and ribbon wrapped tail. You can see she is busy casting spells with her curvy slimline body decorated with floating apothecary bottles, moons and stars and an intricate spiderweb!
For lots of magical sparkle I applied Crystal Stickles glitter to the stars on her witchy hat, the hat band and her collar.
I also added glitter to the moons and stars and all the little dots on her body and a touch of shimmer to the center of the spiderweb.
I also added glitter to all the green ribbon stripes on her tail. It's always tricky to capture glitter in photos, the magical sparkle is so pretty in real life.
My
31 Days of Halloween makes are going in a book I'm making so I first made a slimline 4" x 9" book panel from heavy weight black
cardstock. I chose a fun spell themed paper from the Recollections "Moonlit Manor" paper pad with text that says things like "eye of newt", "bat wings" and "tail of salamander" and cut a panel 1/8 inch smaller than the main black panel. I then edged it with Spectrum Noir Midas Gold pigment ink for a touch of
distressed metallic elegance then adhered it to
the black panel with glue.
For the mat and layered Coffin panels I used my SPOOKtacular FUNdamental Foundations Slimline Coffins Nesting SVG Cutz
set for electronic cutting machines. The set includes 7 concentric
slimline coffin mats and layers for making slimline cards, tags and
more!
I used the 3 largest coffin SVG Cutz to create my mat and layered coffin background and cut them out with my Silhouette Cameo 5 electronic cutting machine on the awesome electrostatic mat.
I
cut the largest coffin from black cardstock and the middle coffin from lime green cardstock to coordinate with the colour of the witchy hat band, kitty's eyes and the ribbon around her tail. The top coffin panel was cut from the same paper as the slimline background. I then edged all the coffin panels with Spectrum Noir Midas Gold pigment ink for even more distressed metallic elegance.
I
adhered the lime green coffin directly onto the large black coffin panel and
mounted those onto the slimline book panel with glue. I then adhered
the top coffin panel and Hocus Pocus kitty in place with black
foam tape for lots of FURtastic dimension.
The "Feline Spooky" sentie is a fun play on the words "feeling spooky" and comes in the Catoween Senties set of 4 kitty themed Halloween digi stamp sentiments. I opened the sentiment in Silhouette Studio, added an offset and then print and cut it out using the "print and cut" feature. I then applied Villainous Potion and Seedless Preserves Distress Ink with a blender brush to colour the white cardstock I printed the senti on to. I then edged the senti with the crystal glitter glue and mounted it onto the panel with black foam tape.
For the finishing touch I adhered green, blue, yellow and black flat back pearls in 2 sizes around the book panel so they look like Hocus Pocus kitty is surrounded by floating spell bubbles.
