Tutorial Tuesdays: "White Rabbit Grunge in Wonderland" Easter Greetings Card by Leigh!

Hiya Creative Friends!
I've got a Wonderland themed "Easter Greetings" card tutorial for you today featuring the newest addition to LeighSBDesigns Grunge in Wonderland series, the White Rabbit Grunge Collage🐰  Today's featured digi is on FLASH SALE until midnight (pacific) Thursday so snap him up and make some fun alternative Easter Bunny cards this year🐰

You all know how much I love Alice in Wonderland so of course I couldn't resist using my White Rabbit Grunge Collage along with Sizzix's "Happy Holidays" Fold-A-Long die set to make some elegant and unusual Easter Bunny cards🐰  The card shape totally reminds me of an egg too, how much fun is that!  Lets get started😋

Start off by creating coloured backgrounds with Distress Oxides.  I used Mermaid Lagoon, Blueprint Sketch, Wilted Violet, Candied Apple and Squeezed Lemonade.  Dab the inks onto a craft sheet, spritz with water and smoosh mixed media cardstock onto the inks.  Dry the cardstock with a heat tool and print out the White Rabbit Grunge Collage.

Die cut out the card base from black cardstock.  I altered the layout slightly by making the inside panel narrower to eliminate the cut out that would normally be down the center.

Die cut out the card base again from yellow cardstock.   Cut out each section with scissors before embossing each piece with KaiserCraft's Card Suits embossing folder.

Adhere all the embossed panels to the black card base with your favourite adhesive.

Die cut out the White Rabbit using the insert panel die and edge it with a metallic gold paint pen.  Adhere the panel to black cardstock and fussy cut it out leaving a narrow border.  Line the White Rabbit panel up on the folded card to determine the center and cut it in half.

Apply Fired Brick Distress Ink to all the panels to colour and enhance the embossed design.

Adhere the White Rabbit panels to the card front and apply Black Soot Distress Ink to the panel edges.

Do the same to the edges inside the card too.

I made my own sentiment panel for the inside of the card by using the insert die as a stencil and cut it out with scissors.  Stamp the Easter Greetings sentiment with Onyx Black Versafine ink and edge the panel in metallic gold.  Mat on black cardstock and cut out leaving a narrow border to match the White Rabbit panel on the front of the card.

Add a touch of sparkle to the White Rabbit design with clear Wink of Stella and gold Spectrum Noir Sparkle pens.

Add metallic gold gel pen details and clear Wink of Stella sparkle to the stamped sentiment and embellish with flowers and leaves die cut from the Distress Oxides cardstock and black cardstock.  Edge a flower, all the leaves and colour one flower with the metallic gold paint pen then complete the card with black 3D Inkssentials Glossy Accents applied to the centers of both flowers.

I hope you enjoyed my tutorial and have been inspired to make your own Wonderland themed Easter cards this year🐰  Tip:  make them even more special by writing your personalized messages on the other side, metallic gold on black cardstock is fun and elegant😋

Tutorial Tuesdays: White Rabbit Grunge Collage Canvas by Val!

Happy Tuesday Creative Friends!
LeighSBDesigner Val has a wonderlandful grunge collage tutorial for you today featuring the newest addition to LeighSBDesigns Grunge in Wonderland series, the White Rabbit Grunge Collage and the Grunge Card Suits set.  All the digis featured today are on FLASH SALE until midnight pacific tonight!

The White Rabbit is perfect for Alice in Wonderland fans of course but he's also a fun twist for your Easter Bunny projects this year❤️

Morning, Val here today with a fun White Rabbit canvas collage tutorial!

Print 2 of the White Rabbit Grunge Collage onto A6 white cardstock (4 1/8 x 5 7/8 inches).

Fussy cut out the rabbit, ornate key and the "Late" letters from one of them.

Apply clear Versamark ink to the key and letters and heat emboss with clear ultra thick embossing powder.

Apply Wild Honey Distress Oxide ink to the 2nd image using your favourite ink applicator.  I like using a smoothie sponge.

Once coloured die cut out the portion of the image with a scalloped rectangle die.

Prepare a small canvas base by applying Black Soot Distress Ink with a smoothie sponge.

Adhere the die cut panel to the canvas off center and then trim a piece with a scalloped edge from the left over coloured image for the left hand side of the canvas.

Print out 4 Hearts from the Grunge Card Suits set and colour them and the bow on the fussy cut out White Rabbit with a Red Embossing Pen and heat emboss with clear UTE.  Then fussy cut out all the hearts.
I coloured the White Rabbit with Spectrum Noir markers:  GB4, PP4, CR4 and a White Dylusions paint pen.

Adhere all the fussy cut out elements to the main image for a fun grungy 3D effect.
Complete the canvas by applying Ranger Stickles and white Cosmic Shimmer drops to the edges for more dimension and a touch of dark sparkle.

 Materials used:
Neenah White Cardstock
Small Canvas
Black Soot Distress Ink
Spectrum Noir markers:  GB4, PP4, CR4

Tutorial Tuesday: Grunge in Wonderland - Distress Oxides Backgrounds and Painting by Leigh!

Hello dear friends!
First I would like to express my sympathies to everyone impacted by Hurricane Harvey, my thoughts and prayers are with you all😢

For today's Tutorial Tuesday I'm going to show you how I used Distress Oxides to paint with as well as create the backgrounds for my Grunge in Wonderland collages.

The 2 Grunge in Wonderland collages, Alice and Queen of Hearts, companion Grunge Card Suits set plus the FREEBIE BUNDLE package are on FLASH SALE for today only, add them to your collections before midnight PDT!

DISTRESS OXIDES BACKGROUNDS

Smear Distress Oxides directly onto a non-stick craft sheet.  You can be as random as you want with how you apply the ink or control the colour placement to suit your project.  I used DO Vintage Photo, Walnut Stain, Spiced Marmalade and Faded Jeans.  Spritz the inks with water, a little or a lot depending on how saturated or diluted you want the inks to be.  I did about 4-5 light spritz, just enough for each colour to bead up.

Lay a white sheet of your favourite mixed media cardstock on top of the spritzed inks, press down and rub your hands around as the inks absorb into the cardstock.  Use paper towel to mop up excess liquid and dry the cardstock with a heat too.

Smear a bit of DO Fired Brick onto the craft sheet and use a paint brush to dilute with water.  Randomly splatter the ink onto the cardstock and dry with a heat tool.

Do the same with DO Broken China.

The finished result is so grungy and gorgeous.  I love this colour combination of smears and splatters.

Make sure the background cardstock is completely dry before loading it into your printer!  I then laid out the two Grunge in Wonderland collages side by side in Photoshop CS6 and printed them out directly onto the DO background cardstock.  LOVE how they turned out💜

PAINTING WITH DISTRESS OXIDES

I really loved the over all effect of the background on the Alice Grunge Collage so decided to do minimal additional Distress Oxide painitng on her.  Smear a bit of DO Faded Jeans and Wilted Violet onto the craft sheet and dilute with a bit of water to make watercolours.  Use a paint brush to paint the letters and Alice's dress and vary the dilution of the inks as you apply the colours and blend to create shading.

The Queen of Hearts Grunge Collage is more involved.  I printed a second image onto plain white cardstock and used the DO to paint just the Queen.

Once dry I added details and highlights with a white Dylusions paint pen and fussy cut her out.  I used clear mounting foam to pop her up from the background collage.

I also wanted the letters and the key to stand out more from the background but not compete with the Queen so applied Inkssentials Matte accents to give them texture and dimension.

I completed each project by layering the collages onto colour coordinating cardstocks.  I love how they both turned out!  They were both relatively fast and easy to do while still achieving a fabulous end result 😄

Thanks for stopping by to see my tutorial today, I hope I've given you lots of inspiration on how to use your Distress Oxides with digi art stamps as well as rubber stamps!
