Moongirl and Bird card for Dark Attic DT!

Howzit Everyone!
It's time for a new challenge over at Dark Attic Challenges where you can enter Anything Goes as long at it's creepy, dark or alternative in nature.  Our challenges always start on the LAST Tuesday of every month!

Our June challenge is sponsored by PPinky Dolls and Lacy Sunshine and my project today features a gorgeous digi called Moon Girl and Bird by

I just adore PPinky Dolls whimsical and quirky digis and fell in love with their BJD dolls too, I'm going to be getting a redheaded Miko soon!  Isn't she adorbs!!!!!

Now for my project!  I've been doing a lot of intricate 3D paper art lately involving a lot of fussy cutting but this digi has such a haunting quality to it that I decided to keep things clean and minimalist...not simple...coz I still did some fussy cutting and layering on this one.

I coloured Moongirl and Bird using a stylus on my iPad in the art app called Paper 53.

I then printed her out onto Neenah solar white cardstock 3 times:  the first print was of the entire image, the 2nd print was just the girl and the bird and the 3rd print was just the bow.  Here's a photo of all the pieces I fussy cut out for this one...don't know why the colour went wrong in this photo but you get the idea.

The elements were layered onto the image with a combo of pop dots and Quick Dry Adhesive.  I used lavender and black cardstock for the card mats and embellished the corners with decorative Spellbinders die cuts.

I completed my card with touches of shimmer and shine by applying Judikins Diamond Glaze to the girl's and the bird's eyes, Viva le Pearl 3D Magic Transparent White to the stars and the corner die cuts and clear Wink of Stella to the bow and the bird's wing.

It was super hard to photograph all the subtle sparkle and shimmer so you'll have to trust me that it's really pretty in person ;0)

Thank you for stopping by today and I hope you'll come and play in our Dark Attic Challenges!
Before you go I'd like to remind you that I have 3 new Facebook Groups that you might like to check out if you're into Gothic or art genres ending in "-punk" and Egyptian inspired art!  Come and share your art with us!

Which covers everything from Steampunk to "insert-cool-historical-period-or-innovative-concept-here-punk"!

"Tea Addiction" for Rick St Dennis EDT!

Howzit Everyone!
It's my turn again to share some Rick St Dennis Elite Design Team inspiration today!
The theme for May is "Make it a Double - combine two images" and I combined "What's Left After" skull with "Mr Tea" and I'm calling this merge "Tea Addiction"...I do love a good cup of tea!

Made Top 3 at

I performed digi magic in Photoshop CS6 and merged the two images then printed it out onto Neenah solar white cardstock.   I used Copics, Prismacolor pencils and a white gel pen to colour the design and applied Tea Dye and Black Soot Distress inks to the background as well.  I layered the design onto lime cardstock, then onto a black folded card made from a sheet of cardstock and decorated the two corners with a Sizzix accent die cut from black cardstock.  I couldn't resist adding some dimensional shimmer and applied Viva le Pearl transparent magic white to the spiderweb.

Half-O-Ween ATCs - Lost Coast Portal to Creativity Halloween in May!

HAPPY HALF-O-WEEN!
We are celebrating Halloween in May over at Lost Coast Portal to Creativity.  Stop by every 2nd day from today until May 31st for lots of clawesome projects, get inspired, dig out your Halloween stamps and come join the party ;0)
A $15 shopping spree at Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda is up for grabs!

Did you know that Half-O-Ween is a fairly old tradition recognized by many European countries?  In Germanic folklore, Walpurgisnacht, also called Hexennacht or Heksennacht (Dutch), literally means "Witches' Night".  Traditionally the start of Half-O-Ween is "Witches Night" on April 30th and then observed all May long.  The first known written occurrence of the English translation, "Walpurgis Night" is from the 19th century.   Many of the things we still do today but have long forgotten the reasons why originated from this time, like the ringing of Church bells and tying tin cans behind the car of newlyweds...all done to ward off evil during Half-O-Ween!

I kicked off the event today with 2 spooktacular ATCs featuring Lost Coast Designs stamps!
Here's a teaser peek at my projects, please pop on over to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity to see each one in detail!

Ghostie "Boo" Birds

The birdies are from Lost Coast Designs newest stamp line, Whimsical Birds by Doris Arndt!
We have 8 large individual Whimsical Birds and 2 sets of mini Whimsical Birds too!  Stop by to check them out on the LCD website and keep an eye on this blog coz we'll be featuring these little cuties in an upcoming Whimsical Bird Showcase soon!  I also used the following on both ATCs:
Spiderwebs background, the large and mini Cracked Tree and mini Cracked Grass and Sky from our Cracked Critter line.  The Old Type Writer Alphabet set in both lower and upper case to stamp the text and the yummy backgrounds were created with the fabulous Nuance Powders by Magenta now available in the Lost Coast Designs store

"It's My Party...." Lost Coast Portal To Creativity Challenge Splash of Neon/Bright Colour!

Happy Sunday Everyone!
I hope you're all having a wonderful weekend!
I'm sharing the project I made for our Lost Coast Portal to Creativity mid-month Challenge reminder today!  Challenge #24 is a Splash of Neon or Bright Colour!

I went for a CAS card so I could put the focus on one of Lost Coast Design's newest stamps, the funky Cracked Party Cat and my splash of colour features the Nuance Powders by Magenta which Lost Coast Designs now carries!  I also used Lost Coast Designs "Party" text from the Party Hats Set 1 and the fun Doodles Circles for my background mat.

My inspiration for this one is the song "It's my Party....and I'll cry if I want to" by Lesley Gore.

I did a splash of bright colour with the Nuance powders and a touch of neon with the lime green tiny button brad, tear drop sticker jewel (I think that's a Recollections embellie) and the bright peach cardstock.  I used Spellbinders dies for the mat layers on the cat and the pennant is cut by hand.
The cat and text are stamped with Onyx Black Versafine ink and the Doodles Circles background is stamped in New Sprout Memento ink.

Come and join our fun challenge, still time to play, it ends on May 25th!

I'm entering this one in the fabulous challenge blog dedicated to our precious kitty cats:

Day of the Dead 3D Art - Rick St Dennis EDT!

Howzit Everyone!
It's my turn to share some Rick St Dennis Elite Design Team inspiration today and I've got a large 3D art piece for you.  I created this one with a colouring page from Rick St Dennis' "Tierras de los Muertos - Day of the Dead 2" colouring book for adults which is available from Amazon HERE!

This one was picked to be Top 3 at
http://darkndaring.blogspot.co.nz/2016/06/challenge-2-anything-goes.html

Isn't it gorgeous!  I just love this drawing combining the exotic reptiles with beautiful flowers and skulls.   Please click on all the photos for a closer look at all the details!

This was a freebie page that Rick shared on our Rick St Dennis Digi Fans and Friends Facebook group and I printed it out onto a full sheet of Neenah solar white cardstock and coloured the entire design with Copic markers with some light background shading around the design done with a black Prismacolor coloured pencil.

I then scanned it into Photoshop CS6, printed 3 copies out onto full sheets of Neenah cardstock and then the 3D fun began.  This piece consists of 3 layers, the full base image and then 2 layers of fussy cut elements.  Before assembling each layer I added highlights and little details with a white gel pen.  I curled and rounded each element to further enhance the dimension of the piece and then adhered the elements in place with a combination of pop dots and Scotch quick dry adhesive.  I mounted the finished project onto heavy black cardstock and now it's suitable for framing!  Here's the finished piece showing the varying degrees of depth created by all the layers.

Thank you for stopping by and I hope you enjoyed seeing my latest project!
