31 Days of Halloween Creepy Grumpies Luminary - Altered DominoART

Howzit Friends!
I'm hosting my 5th annual DominoART Scarefest again this year and also playing as a Wicked Blogger in the massive 7th annual Smeared Ink 31 Days of Halloween again too!  September has been crazy busy preparing and now hectic October has begun with all the 31 DOH post writing, hopping, commenting, scavenger prize hunting and Halloween party celebrations!  I'm exhausted already LOL but it is always so much fun and totally worth it ;0)  So pop on over to DominoART and join us!  It's also not too late to join the fun coz I've got 4 spots left on my Wicked Players list so do come and join me!

Here's my Day 1 DominoART project - I made an altered domino luminary
I've got different photos up at DominoART plus a little video to get you in the mood!

the little guy on the lid is from the Love Grumpies rubber set
6 x standard white dominoes
1 x Lexicon game piece
hexagon glass jar
Sharpies
Black Archival Ink
Judikins Diamond Glaze
Krylon gloss sealer
Krylon Artists Workable Fixative
Tim Holtz spiderweb paper tape
black silk ribbon
orange flameless tea light

I found the hexagonal jar at Hobbycraft when I was in the UK for summer vacay and knew immediately what I wanted to make with it so came home with 2 LOL!
I stamped 6 white standard sized dominoes with the Smeared Ink Creepy Grumpies in black StazOn ink and heat set.  Also stamped the mini Love Grumpie onto a Lexicon game piece for the lid.  Each domino was coloured with Sharpies using my signature Sharpie Domino Queen technique.  I normally would seal the entire domino with a coat of Judikins Diamond Glaze but I only wanted their eyes to be super glossy and 3 dimensional so I sprayed them with Krylon Artists Workable Fixative first and then glossy sealer before adding the Diamond Glaze to their eyes.  Each domino was then adhered to the jar with Dianond Glaze.  I decorated the lid with a cut strip of Tim Hotz spiderweb paper tape and adhered the tile to the lid.  I completed my luminary with black silk ribbon and added an orange flameless tea light inside.  It looks soooooo wicked cool lit up!

See you over at DominoART and join the spooktacular fun!

Steampunk Grumpies - Smeared and Smudged blog hop & new digi release

Howzit Everyone!
Today is our Smeared and Smudged FB group's monthly member blog hop and the theme this month is Steampunk!  We, the Smeared Ink design team, are also excited to introduce you to the newest members of SI's Grumpie collection, Steampunk Grumpies.

I had the pleasure of creating with Top Hat Steampunk Grumpie and made 2 projects for this hop and the new image release.  You probably got here from Susan's blog and your next stop is Rebecca.  Here's the blog roll for you to hop along with us!  Enjoy!

SMEARED AND SMUDGED MEMBER BLOG HOP

I had fun creating this Grumpie Mob card announcing the arrival of the new Steampunk Grumpies...they're Heeeeere!  LOL

My 2nd project is an ATC with a very Gentlemanly sentiment from a quote by Brian McKnight that I thought was perfect for my Top Hat Steampunk Grumpie.

I created both projects in Photoshop CS6 first and then printed them out on Neenah solar white cardstock.  The Grumpies are coloured with Copic markers with metallic gold gel pen and Promarker details.   The backgrounds are done with a sienna brown Derwent pastel pencil and a Dove Blender pen.  I distressed the edges of both with Tim's Paper Distresser tool and edged with gold Promarker and I applied Tea Dye Distress Ink to the Grumpie mob background.  The ATC is mounted onto black cardstock and the card panel is matted onto lime and apple green cardstocks, borders cut with my Perfect Layers tools, then black cardstock folded to make the card.  But before I adhered it to the black card I pressed the edges of the panel inside a long Cuttlebug cogs and gears embossing folder and highlighted the embossed design with metallic silver rub-on cream.

"Something Wicked this Way Comes" a Smeared Ink DT project

Howzit Everyone!
We're midway though our current challenge over at Smudgy Antics which is always Anything Goes with a twist and this month it's
 'FEELING A LITTLE GRUMPY'
If you haven't heard yet, Smeared Ink's store is BACK and open for business so pop over and check out all the fabulous new digi images and then come and join us over at Smudgy Antics!

Here's my DT share for this week!  I'm getting into the mood for Halloween so made a project using one of SI's new digi images called East, she is the witch floating in on the night breeze.  She's really scaring my Lil Grumpie, one of SI's orginal Grumpie digis and the landscape is a partial of SI's Rusalka digi.  The Grumpies are now available in a Grumpie rubber stamp pack HERE!

I designed this entire project in Photoshop CS6.  I started with creating the foggy background for my sky then added in the various digi layers.  Here's a close up of the East witch and you can also see the drifting "Something Wicked this Way Comes" text I added to the sky which I blurred and manipulated to look like it's drifting in the breeze.  Cool huh ;0)

See you over at Smudgy Antics!

It's September already and time for a new challenge over at Smudgy Antics!
Our challenge this month is as always
ANYTHING GOES....
with a TWIST OF
 'FEELING A LITTLE GRUMPY'
if your mojo needs a little prod!
The only requirement is that you use a
SMEARED INK image....

I had a blast creating this not so happy birthday card, isn't he a real grumpie-puss, he perked up when he saw his presents and birthday cake though ;0)

This one is pretty much a CAS card (clean and simple), by my standards anyway coz there's no layered cardstock, no fussy cutting and no 3D embellies.  I stamped Smeared Ink's Birthday Grumpie onto white cardstock with Tuxedo Black Memento ink and coloured him with Copics.  The birthday sentiment is part of the Occasions Grumpies set and I stamped it a few times and crossed them out to show you just how grumpie this little guy really is...maybe he really wanted a pink balloon, who knows?  I drew a rectangle around the one Happy Birthday and coloured the interior with Copics too.  I used a brown Derwent Pastel pencil to add the shadow shading around him and blended it with a Dove Blender pen.  For just a touch of birthday sparkle I added yellow glitter glue to the tassel on his hat.  He is really cute in his grumpie-ness isn't he LOL!

Here's the Smeared Ink DT blog roll for the hop!

Day 2: "Love me or....." Valentine Card!

Welcome back for more dark and twisty Valentines!
We're on Day 2 of Smeared Ink's three day long
 BLOODY VALENTINE BLOG HOP 2015!

If you've already been hopping with us then you arrived here from Teresa's blog but if you'd like to start from the beginning then pop on over to Black Dragon's blog!  The blog hop roll is below my project and over there in my right sidebar!

Love me...or Die...Your Choice!
My share for today is a rather ominous Valentine...do you think they've got a "stalker" card section at Target?  But I don't think you'll need to dial 911 with this one, who can resist this cute lovable lil Grumpie offering his heart and a pretty rose balloon ;0)

The background with the rose is from my stamp set I designed for Smeared Ink called Autumn's Pencil and the Lil Grumpie is from the Love Lil Grumpies stamp set.

see, you've totally got a choice, nothing to worry about!
Both images were stamped twice onto Neenah Solar White cardstock in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink, coloured with Copic markers and details and highlights added with a white gel pen.  The background was coloured with Fired Brick and Black Soot Distress Inks applied with a foam ink applicator.  The panel edges were distressed and left raw to contrast with the black card the panel is adhered to.  The rose balloon was cut out and curved to achieve the rounded 3D effect and adhered to the background with very thick 3D glue dots...I normally use dimensional silicone glue but discovered mine had crystallized inside the tube, damn, it was only half used too!  I coloured the background around the grumpie with black and red pastel pencils and blended with a Dove Blender pen before fussing cutting him out.  I also fussy cut out just his little antenna holding the heart and adhered the ends to his head with Scotch Quick Dry adhesive, curved the antenna and adhered the heart section with a another thick 3D glue dot.  I glued the ends of the balloon string under the balloon and Grumpie's heart.  For even more dimension I applied Judikins Diamond Glaze to the balloon, Grumpie's eyes and heart.  You can see all the fun dimensional elements in the pix below.  My ominous senti was made on my old fashioned Dymo Buddy label maker..."Your Choice" is inside the card.

all the cute little details - his eyes are purple but it doesn't show up so well
All fun and games aside...Seriously, stalking IS a crime so stop doing it immediately!

Thanks for hopping with me today :0)
