My Bubbly Depths Blog Hop finale inspiration for you today is a FIN-tastic make featuring my Summer 2021 Chapter 1 release, the Bubbly Depths Collection🦈

 

I've been entranced by sharks, especially Great Whites, ever since I saw Jaws at the cinema when I was 5 years old.  I actually only saw the opening attack scene and got to experience the iconic music and then I was outta there but that was all it took...I was hooked on sharks...terrified to go in the ocean forevermore... but still forever mesmerized by the gorgeous creatures!  I finally saw the whole movie about 5 years later and loved it🦈

 

So my jaw-some finale make is all about the Sharkies!

Plus Shark Week kicks off on July 11th...grab the popcorn...Jaws marathon here I come🦈

 

I used all 5 layers with bubbles from the Bubbly Depths Rectangle Tunnel SVG Cutz set to create my 3D tunnel scene.  4 layers are cut from shades of blue cardstock and 5th and top layer from black.  I like to use 80lb cardstock for most of my SVG cutting, especially for the more delicate cuts like the netting!

 

 

Around the perimeter of the top layer I wrote with a metallic silver gel pen...

 

Sharks...

disconcertingly appear out of nowwhere...

approaching silently from deep below...

rapidly swimming...

circling ever tighter...

Then filled the depths with a shiver of circling sharks and their pilot fish from the Bubbly Depths Ocean Life SVG Cutz set all cut from black cardstock.  There’s a few words to describe a group of sharks but “shiver” really sets the mood!  I also added deep blue metallic eyelash fibers around the outer edge to enhance the organic feel of movement.

 

 

I glued the sharks to the different concentric layers to further enhance the 3D tunnel effect.  I used the silver gel pen to add some highlight glints to the sharks and fish and also added some distressed metallic silver ink to 2 of them so they stand out nicely from the black top layer.

 

The dark shadows are still rising to the surface but the Bubbly Depths Netting SVG Cutz "shark net" has let one through!

 

 

NOW might be a good time to GET OUT OF THE WATER!!!!

Under the Ocean

Matchbook card by Val 

 

LeighSBDesigner Val’s Bubbly Depths Blog Hop inspiration for you today is a MER-MAZING matchbook card featuring all the FINtastic designs in my Mermaid Collection🧜🏻‍♀️

 

 

Val created a matchbook shaped pocket card and decorated the front with Meri Oddleigh Mermaid and greenery from the Ocean Scenery set.

 

Val decorated the inside of her matchbook pocket card with Meri Oddleigh Mermaid and used the MerMazing sentiment included in the Meri Oddleigh Mermaid and Friends set on the pocket flap then stuffed the pocket with oval shaped tags with scalloped edges that look like mermaid scales.  The 2 small tags feature the "friends" included in the Meri Oddleigh Mermaid and Friends set and the 2 big tags feature MerMae and MerWitch.

 

 To create this FIN-tastic make Val used the following:

Just when you thought it was safe to go back into the sea this Summer here's a reminder of what's lurking beneath the waves...EEEK!

 

Val got very clever with this one...do you recognize the shape she's used to create this FIN-tastic scary make?  If you said she's used an offcut from the Bubbly Depths Rectangle Tunnel SVG Cutz set then you are correct!  You know us makers can't through anything out and that goes for all the wonderful offcuts left behind on your cutting mats too!  Here Val used 2 offcuts from the first layer to make her folded card. 

 Lucky for us we have the Bubbly Depths Netting SVG Cutz between us and those circling sharkies right now...those glinting white eyes definitely let us know we've been spotted and are potential fish food!

 

 

 The sharks are from the Bubbly Depths Ocean Life SVG Cutz set and the glorious seaweed Val decorated here scene with is from the Ocean Scenery digi stamp set.

"Bubbly Depths"

Circle SVG Cutz Easel Card by Leigh

 

My Bubbly Depths Blog Hop inspiration for you today is a MER-MAZING round easel card featuring my Summer 2021 Chapter 1 release, the Bubbly Depths Collection🧜🏻‍♀️

 

I used 5 of the 6 SVG Cutz layers included in the Bubbly Depths Circle Tunnel SVG Cutz set to create this FINtastic easel card! 

 

For my layered scene I used 4 of the Bubbly Depths Circle Tunnel SVG Cutz layers with center aperture cuts plus the 6th layer which is just a circle cut so my watery background was visible through the last aperture.

 

 I cut 3 circle shapes using the 6th layer from my Distress Oxide Spray cardstock and my Silhouette Cameo.  I used one for the background of the layered scene, one for the back of my easel card and one for the base scene.

 

 

I cut the largest of the 2 netting sizes included in the Bubbly Depths Netting SVG Cutz set from black cardstock and pounced metallic silver ink all over the net.  I also edged all the circle cut layers in silver too.

 

 

Using the Bubbly Depths Ocean Life SVG Cutz set I cut the Mermaid, both Sharks, 2 Starfish and 3 Fish from black cardstock and applied some metallic silver inks to them in various degrees depending on how "deep" they are in my scene.  

 

 

I then applied Judikins Diamond Glaze to all the sea life for a wonderful glass-like 3D look.

I cut another one of the top Circle Cutz layers for the base of my easel card and layered it over the netting.  

 

 

I used one of the Sharks as my easel card stopper which I adhered in place with pop dots.  I also added Judikins Diamond glaze to the bubbles on the base.

 

 

I assembled all the layers with pop dots and adhered the sea life in place with a combination of pop dots and glue then embellished with clear dew drop gems.

To make the easel card mechanism I used the 6th layer circle as a template and drew two interlocking circles onto heavy weight cardstock.  I then scored a fold where the circles interlocked and a score fold in the middle of the top circle to create the easel fold.

 

 

The easel card folds flat for easy mailing so if you haven't tried your hand at making an easel card yet then I hope this one inspires you to give it a go!
