Lady Atlantis - Rick St Dennis EDT!

Hello Everyone!
It's my turn again to share some design team inspiration for the Rick St Dennis EDT over on our Facebook Group, Rick St Dennis Digi Fans and Friends!

This stunning digi stamp by Rick St Dennis Mfa is called Atlantis especially for Miranda and it's available in Rick's Zibbet store HERE!  FYI, in case you haven't heard yet, Zibbet have now introduced immediate digi downloads just like Etsy so you no longer have to wait for your purchase to be emailed to you!  YAY!  Don't you just love that instant gratification even though Rick was on the ball with his emails ;0)  You might recognize the seahorse from this digi, I used him for my Steampunk Seahorse ATC at the beginning of March, check it out HERE if you missed it!

I enjoyed colouring the entire image for today's card project this time which started out in Photoshop CS6.  I duplicated the digi and erased the background leaving me with just the image on a transparent background which I could then layer over my background work.  I drew in my own watery effects...the black bubble/splashes and the subtle blue mottled background as well as the shadows around the image.  I also added some beveled effects to the image also which gives the image a 3D effect.   I then printed out on Neenah cardstock and coloured with Copics including white and metallic silver and gold details added with gel pens.  I used a scalloped lace Fiskars paper punch on all four corners and applied Shaded Lilac Distress Ink to the edges.  The coloured image was then layered onto black cardstock, then colour coordinating blue cardstock and again on a black card made from a sheet of cardstock.  I used my Perfect Layers border tools to cut the perfect borders!  I then completed my project with a touch of 3D shimmer with Magic Transparent White 3D droplets applied with a Viva Pearl pen to the image as well as the punched corners.

Here's a closer look at the details!

Thanks for stopping by to see my project today and hope to see you over at Rick St Dennis Digi Fans and Friends!

Chinese Steampunk Dragon - Rick St Dennis EDT project

Howzit Everyone!
Today I'm sharing a digital painting project for the Rick St Dennis EDT.  I love Steampunk and I love Dragons so I thoroughly enjoyed creating this Chinese Steampunk Dragon with a vintage burnt parchment feel as inspiration for our current Facebook group challenge - Metal Magic.

This entire project was painted on my iPad with a stylus using the art application called Paper 53.
A Clockwork Dragon for Monique is available in the Rick St Dennis Zibbet store.

Steampunk Seahorse ATC - Rick St Dennis EDT!

Howzit Everyone!
Today I'm sharing a Rick St Dennis EDT project, a Steampunk Seahorse ATC.  The Seahorse is actually a partial of the gorgeous digi stamp called Atlantis especially for Miranda and it's currently on sale!  Our new Facebook group challenge for March is Metal Magic so of course I couldn't resist creating with a Steampunk theme.

I started out by deciding on how much of the Steampunk Seahorse I wanted to see and then sized the image to ATC size, which is 2.5"x3.5", in Photoshop CS6 and printed it out onto Neenah solar white cardstock.  The entire ATC is coloured with Copic markers and I began by scribbling 3 shades of cool grey Copics and then randomly dripping Ranger Alcohol Ink Solution on the background area to create the fun watery effect.

The Seahorse is coloured with various warm greys, cool greys and yellows to achieve the various metal looks and then enchanced with metallic silver and gold gel pens.  The water background was also enhanced with 2 shades of blue-green Copics and metallic blue Promarker.  I tried to capture the metallic shimmer in the photo below.  I completed my ATC with simple punched corners (Marvy punch) and edged with the metallic blue Promarker.

Thanks for visiting with me today!
Happy Stamping and have a fabulous weekend!

Steampunk digital art using an iPad - DT post for Forever Dark Challenges!

Howzit Everyone!
Our current challenge over at Forever Dark Challenges is Anything Goes with an optional twist and January is STEAMPUNK!

We have 2 fabulous sponsors this month

That Craft Place
And

You can see the projects I made for That Craft Place HERE and HERE!
Today I'm sharing the project I made for Stitchy Bear Stamps using this fabulous lady called Steampunk - 3 piece set by BBKakes.

I've been working on developing my skills in using an awesome application called Paper 53 and colouring on my iPad using a stylus.  Contrary to popular belief, doing digital art in Photoshop or similiar applications is not cheating or easy to do in the slightest and all who do digital work agree, it can be even more time consuming than doing traditional colouring on paper with markers and coloured pencils!  It is also super fun to have if you travel a lot and can't take all your supplies with you.  I was in the UK for Christmas when I started working on this one and it probably took me a total of 6 hours to complete so I'm getting better at it and I'm now developing my style on how I like to digi colour.

I got a new stylus for Christmas that I just LOVE!!!!  It's a PAINT BRUSH, squeal of delight!!!!!
The stylus is by Sensu and it's a paint brush and stylus two-in-one!

I used the brush part to lay down a watercolour base with the watercolour brush app tool and then a combination of the brush and the stylus to colour with the pencil app tool.  A LOT of colouring took place here and I'm really thrilled with how this project turned out :0)

See you over at Forever Dark Challenges and Have a great weekend!

showing the magical transformation in candlelight

Steampunk Grumpies - Smeared and Smudged blog hop & new digi release

Howzit Everyone!
Today is our Smeared and Smudged FB group's monthly member blog hop and the theme this month is Steampunk!  We, the Smeared Ink design team, are also excited to introduce you to the newest members of SI's Grumpie collection, Steampunk Grumpies.

I had the pleasure of creating with Top Hat Steampunk Grumpie and made 2 projects for this hop and the new image release.  You probably got here from Susan's blog and your next stop is Rebecca.  Here's the blog roll for you to hop along with us!  Enjoy!

SMEARED AND SMUDGED MEMBER BLOG HOP

I had fun creating this Grumpie Mob card announcing the arrival of the new Steampunk Grumpies...they're Heeeeere!  LOL

My 2nd project is an ATC with a very Gentlemanly sentiment from a quote by Brian McKnight that I thought was perfect for my Top Hat Steampunk Grumpie.

I created both projects in Photoshop CS6 first and then printed them out on Neenah solar white cardstock.  The Grumpies are coloured with Copic markers with metallic gold gel pen and Promarker details.   The backgrounds are done with a sienna brown Derwent pastel pencil and a Dove Blender pen.  I distressed the edges of both with Tim's Paper Distresser tool and edged with gold Promarker and I applied Tea Dye Distress Ink to the Grumpie mob background.  The ATC is mounted onto black cardstock and the card panel is matted onto lime and apple green cardstocks, borders cut with my Perfect Layers tools, then black cardstock folded to make the card.  But before I adhered it to the black card I pressed the edges of the panel inside a long Cuttlebug cogs and gears embossing folder and highlighted the embossed design with metallic silver rub-on cream.

"The Mechanics of Flight" Just Steampunk vol 3 with Lost Coast Designs

Happy Friday to you all!
I've been waiting a long time and I think I'm okay to now share some of my creations that were published in Just Steampunk vol 3 2013 :0)
Today I'm sharing my card that actually made the cover of the issue, squeeeee, that features Lost Coast Designs stamps!
"The Mechanics of Flight"
All stamps used are by Lost Coast Designs
Steampunk Fly Girl
Numbers Border
Measuring Tape Border

I stamped the Steampunk Fly Girl image with Onyx Black Memento Ink onto Neenah Solar White cardstock and colored the image with Copic markers with silver and gold metallic details added with Promarkers.   The panel was die cut out with the largest Spellbinders Reverse Wonky Rectangles die and the edges distressed with a Tonic Paper Distresser tool before the background was colored with Derwent Pastel pencils blended with a Dove Blender pen.    I used the same Spellbinders die as a template and traced the shape onto black cardstock with a pencil and cut it out with scissors and adhered the panels together with Scotch Quick Dry Adhesive.  All four corners were then punched with a 1/16" hole punch and real tiny screws pushed through the holes.  The screws started out black and I colored the tops silver with a metallic Sharpie pen.

The background panel was made from light brown cardstock and embossed with a Cuttlebug 5x7 Clockworks embossing folder.  The edges were distressed with a Tonic Paper Distresser tool and the entire panel was treated with Pumice Stone and Black Soot Distress Inks applied with a foam ink applicator.

The two border strips were stamped onto light grey-brown cardstock with Walnut Distress Ink and trimmed to fit the large background panel.  The gear embellishments were die cut with Sizzix Tim Holtz Alterations Movers and Shapers Mini Gears Set and Gadget Gears dies out of Grungeboard paper and treated with a combination of Tarnished Brass and Brushed Pewter Distress Stains.  I made faux screw heads from the circles that came out of the gadget dies and drew the black lines with a black Sharpie ultra fine point marker and colored the rest with a silver Sharpie pen.  Everything was adhered to a folded card made from black cardstock with Scotch Quick Dry Adhesive except for the main panel which was adhered with dimensional Create and Craft Silicone Glue because of the real screws I used.
I'll be sharing more of my published creations over the next week so I hope you'll stop by to see them!
Have a great weekend!
