Today I want to remember Ike, Sue EisenHauer, who sadly passed away at the end of April😔  I met Ike when I first discovered Smeared Ink way back in 2011 and we became friends through our love of cats, Edgar Allan Poe and Halloween and then later as fellow digi stamp designers.  Ike sponsored prizes and played in many of LeighSBDesigns blog hops and I know she is busy happily crafting in Heaven right now so I wanted to re-share some of Ike's makes today❤️

Day 4 Finale

“A Tale as Old as Time”

Gothic Rose 3D Window Vignette

Welcome to Day 4 and the finale of our dark romantic 5th annual Gothic Valentine Blog Hop🖤

 

 

Tale as old as time...Song as old as rhyme...

Beauty and the Beast

 

 

For my finale make today I created a Gothic vignette of a scene from Beauty and the Beast🖤

 

 

I used my Raven Gothic Window SVG Cutz set to make a 3D corner vignette of the Beast's castle.

 

 

The Raven Gothic Window SVG Cutz set comes with a detailed lace overlay and 4 mat layers.  I designed the base structure of the corner vignette in Silhouette Studio using the 2nd mat layer then made a mirror image of the base, so I could glue them back to back to make the structure nice and sturdy, and cut both of out of heavy weight black cardstock using my Silhouette Cameo 4.  I then cut four of the 1st mat layer from textured grey cardstock with 2 also as mirror images.  Then I cut 4 of the detailed lace overlay from black cardstock with 2 as mirror images.  I then assembled the vignette by layering up all the cut elements on both sides of the Gothic Windows then glued the base to form the 3D corner vignette.  The cobblestone floor is a Crafter's Companion die which I fussy cut after die cutting to fit the vignette base.  The die has a mat layer which I coloured with Tea Dye and Frayed Burlap Distress Oxide sprays and the cobblestone overlay was cut from black cardstock.

 

 

I coloured my Gothic Rose with Copics, fussy cut it out leaving a narrow white halo and then glued it to clear acetate to give the delicate rose a nice sturdy structure and fussy cut it out again.  I added dew drops with a Viva Pearl magic transparent 3D gel pen.

 

 

The Wicked Moon smiles down upon the enchanted Rose outside the window.  I coloured the moon with Tea Dye, Fired Brick and Black Soot Distress Oxide inks, mounted it onto Crafter's Companion black glitter card and fussy cut it out.  I glued only a tiny piece of the side of the moon to the Gothic Window and creased it to bend away from the window to give a free floating effect.

 

The Bat is from the Gothic Nightmare Catcher SVG Cutz set and I attached it to the outside of the window by only a portion of a wing so it looks like it's flying freely outside the window.

 

 

I made a little leaf element to display my Love is the Strongest Magic senti using a Docrafts die and coloured it with Copics to match the Rose and embellished it with a Cheery Lynn leaf flourish die cut from black cardstock.

 

This senti embellishment isn't attached so it can be placed anywhere around the vignette.

I decorated the vignette base with Recollections red paper roses and climbing vines using more Cheery Lynn leaf flourishes.  I them completed the vignette by adhering the Gothic Rose in place with a tab made of clear acetate so it looks like its standing on its own in the scene.  I painted the back of the Gothic Rose with black glitter glue and covered the acetate tab in glitter to camouflage it and then attached the tab to the corner of the vignette so it can viewed from any angle.

Welcome to Day 2 of our wickedly fabulous 5th annual Gothic Valentine Blog Hop🖤  LeighSBDesigner Val made this gorgeous Gothic Rose card for your inspiration today🖤

Val created her decadent beauty with the Gothic Rose and the "Let Love Bloom" senti from the Heart Blooms digi stamp set.

 

 

Val coloured the Gothic Rose with Spectrum Noir red and black Tri-blend markers and the moody background with Black Soot and Fired Brick Distress Oxide inks.  Val embellished the corners of her card with beautiful lace-like black die cuts by Sizzix and completed her card with mat layers cut in black cardstock and black glitter cardstock and mounted everything onto a white folded card.

"My Dark Valentine"
Gothic Rose Easel Card

 Kicking of Day 1 of the Hop I created this fabulous easel card featuring my Gothic Rose and "My Dark Valentine" sentiment from the Dark Sentiments Set 1.

I printed my Gothic Rose design 3 times to create the dimensional layers plus leaves which I printed out larger.  I coloured the design with Copics and then fussy cut everything out.  The gorgeous easel die is Anna Griffin's Easel Heart die set.  The sentiment panel I coloured with Fired Brick, Aged Mahogany and Black Soot Distress Ink.  I also edged all the red cardstock pieces with Black Soot Distress Ink.  The gorgeous lace hearts are die cut from Crafter's Companion black glitter card.  I used black foam tape to mount the lace heart, all the fussy cut rose pieces and the black silk ribbon to the card.

Closed the card looks like a wicked box of chocolates.
