I'm back for Day 5 of our 31 Days of Halloween SPOOKtivities with my
PURRtastic "Dia De Los Muertos" Slimline book panel featuring a Loveleigh
Kitty and matching senti from my new CAToWeen 2024 Loveleigh Kitties Halloween Collection and my wicked awesome FUNdamental Foundations Slimline Coffins Nesting SVG Cutz set for electronic cutting machines.
Catrina Loveleigh Kitty is a drop dead gorgeous Dia De Los Muertos aka Day of the Dead themed kitty and she's the star of today's book panel.
I
coloured this beauty digitally in Adobe Fresco, printed her out in all her dramatic colourful glory and then fussy cut her out with scissors leaving a
narrow white border that makes her pop nicely against the background
papers.
Isn't
she gorgeous in her traditional Dia De Los Muertos imagery from her intricate sugar skull face to her stylized marigold floral body and she has a large bow around her elegant neck with a tiny detailed sugar skull in the center. She also has the traditional bone design throughout her body with a large heart centered between her ribs.
For lots of magical sparkle I applied Crystal Stickles glitter to the details on her sugar skull face, ears, bow, heart and centers of all the flowers.

My
31 Days of Halloween makes are going in a book I'm making so I first made a slimline 4" x 9" book panel from heavy weight black
cardstock. I chose a beautiful spiderweb design from Crafter's Companion Vintage Halloween paper pad that colour coordinated nicely with the touches of pink and red I used my kitty and cut a panel 1/4 inch smaller than the main black panel. I then edged it with Spectrum Noir Midas Copper pigment ink for a touch of
distressed metallic elegance and adhered it to
the black panel with glue.
For the mat and layered Coffin panels I used my SPOOKtacular FUNdamental Foundations Slimline Coffins Nesting SVG Cutz
set for electronic cutting machines. The set includes 7 concentric
slimline coffin mats and layers for making slimline cards, tags and
more!
I
used the 3 largest coffin SVG Cutz to create my mat and layered coffin
background and cut them out with my Silhouette Cameo 5 electronic
cutting machine on the awesome electrostatic mat.
I
cut the largest coffin from black cardstock and the middle coffin from the same decorative paper I used for the slimline panel. The top coffin panel was cut from a beautiful black paper with a black glitter design I've had in my stash forever just waiting for the right make to use it on and this slimline book panel was the one! I then edged all the coffin panels with Spectrum Noir Midas Copper pigment ink for even more distressed metallic elegance.
I
adhered the decorative coffin mat directly onto the large black coffin panel and
mounted those onto the slimline book panel with glue. I then adhered
the top coffin panel and Catrina kitty in place with black
foam tape for lots of FURtastic dimension.
Next I printed out another copy of Catrina Loveleigh Kitty and fussy cut out all the marigold flowers. I decorated the slimline background panel with them and added glitter to all the flower centers too.

I opened the sentiment in Silhouette Studio and added an offset. I then used the "print and cut" feature to first print the senti with my printer and then fussy cut it out with my Silhouette Cameo 5.
To colour the white cardstock I printed the senti onto I applied Squeezed Lemonade and Carved Pumpkin Distress Oxide Ink with a blender brush then adhered the senti directly to the side of the top coffin panel with glue.
