Day 26 of 31 Days of Halloween
Pumpkin and Roses
Wicked Topiary
Panel #11
by Leigh
Alice and her entourage arrived at the palace gates and gazed apprehensively up at the magnificent castle ahead of them.
"I shall leave you here but I wouldn't dawdle if I were you" said the White Rabbit as he dashed ahead of them towards the Royal Court.
Two giant pumpkin and roses topiaries stood guard at the gate entrance. They were quite scary with wicked jack o' lantern grins staring right at Alice and their eyes seemed to follow her as she slowly walked by examining them closely. The one closest to her suddenly blinked and she jumped right out of her skin for the second time today, "Curiouser and curiouser" squeaked Alice.
"Do you think we have time for another cup of tea, we could go back now to the Tea Party for a spell or two and come back later" said the Mad Hatter hopefully with a little quiver of fear in his voice.
"I really wish we could but I don't think I can go home unless we go forwards instead of backwards" said Alice resignedly.
They stepped through the gate onto a path made of shiny red cobblestone hearts. The path meandered all the way up the hill lined with yet more wicked topiaries that turned to glare at them wickedly as they passed by. Alice could feel all their gleaming jack o' lantern eyes watching them the whole way which made her shiver.
I'm back for Day 26 of our 31 Days of Halloween SPOOKtivities with the 11th in a series of panels featuring designs from my new Wicked Wonderland Halloween Collection.
The panels will be stored in an ornate tin I'm altering and all will be revealed on Oct 31st π
This panel features the SPOOKtacular "Pumpkin and Roses" Wicked Topiary, the Wicked Arrow Signs and the Falling Wicked Alice.
I coloured the digi images in Adobe Fresco then printed and fussy cut out 2 of the largest "Pumpkin and Roses" Wicked Topiary and 3 more in various sizes leaving a narrow white border to make them all "glow" and pop nicely
against the background.
From the 2nd of the 2 prints of the largest topiary I fussy cut out just the rose and leaves from each tier and adhered them to the other print with black foam tape.
Using
the keyhole template I made based on the ornate tin I'm altering, I cut
the shape of the main panel from heavy weight black cardstock and a
1/4" smaller background mat layer for both the front and back of the panel cut from the gothic Thorn and Bloom paper pad by Crafter's Companion showing the castle scene. I then edged all the pieces with Spectrum Noir metallic gold pigment ink and adhered the front and back layers to the black panel.
I
then adhered the largest topiary with the "Tea Party" Arrow Sign, the pocket watch and the tiny Candy Bat taken from the Falling Wicked Alice collage, and the 2 smaller topiaries in place with glue and black foam
tape.
To make the meandering cobblestone pathway I used metallic red confetti hearts and I then added magical shimmer to the images with a clear Spectrum Noir glitter brush pen.
I kept the back panel simple to show off the gorgeous Thorn and Bloom decorative paper that includes BOOtiful roses and a gothic arch as the entrance to the Royal Court.
I adhered the topiary and the arrow sign to the panel with black foam tape.
For my magical black light effects I used Tim Holtz'
Ignite Neon Alcohol ink on the largest plant pot as well as eye highlights on the Candy Bat and painted all the jack o' lantern faces with glow-in-the-dark paint.
GITD paint is so fun!
For the back panel I just used the glow-in-the-dark paint on the topiary eyes as well as the bat which is part of the decorative paper I used.
So pretty!
For panel #11 I used the
See you tomorrow for Day 27 of our 31 Days of Halloween countdown!
