Day 18 of 31 Days of Halloween
Wicked Wonderland Keyhole
Panel #6
by Leigh
After a few weird size fluctuations that made Alice feel quite peculiar she was ready to open the magical door to Wonderland. Alice inserted the Heart Key into the keyhole and gave it a turn. The lock made mechanical sounds that loudly echoed around her and then...click...the door suddenly sprang open.
Not sure of what to expect in Wicked Wonderland Alice cautiously peered around the door and her eyes widened in amazement!
Wicked Wonderland was both mesmerizing and scary at the same time!
Alice entered the magical garden and the door slammed shut behind her making her jump.
In awe Alice gazed up at the sky that was aglow with dancing light in shades of purple, blue and green and filled with stars that twinkled purple and black.
Tentatively Alice walked amongst the towering trees and ferns as creatures of the night flew above her head. She gazed up at giant mushrooms and marveled at the wicked jack o' lanterns that gleamed in the darkness.
"Curiouser and Curiouser" said Alice!
Suddenly, a little shadow rushed out of the darkness and dashed past her!
"Wait just one minute" shouted Alice as she recognized the White Rabbit clutching his pocket watch. "You have some explaining to do" she called as she chased after him.
"I'm late, I'm late, for a very important date!"
said the White Rabbit over his shoulder.
As Alice disappeared down the path a wicked purr echoed high up in the trees where a disembodied grin floated in mid air.
"Welcome back Alice" growled the wicked Cheshire Cat as he slowly appeared perched atop a tree.
I'm back for Day 18 of our 31 Days of Halloween SPOOKtivities with the 6th in a series of panels featuring designs from my new Wicked Wonderland Halloween Collection.
The panels will be stored in an ornate tin I'm altering and all will be revealed on Oct 31st π
This panel features the SPOOKtacular Wicked Wonderland Keyhole scene with bats taken from Falling Wicked Alice. I coloured the gothic design digitally
in Adobe Fresco.
I printed and fussy cut the keyhole and the tiny bats out leaving a narrow white border to make everything "glow" and pop nicely
against the background.
For lots of shimmer and shine I painted parts of the scene with an Onyx black Spectrum Noir glitter brush pen and added tiny metallic purple confetti stars to the scene and one large purple star above it.
Using the keyhole template I made based on the ornate tin I'm altering, I cut the shape of the main panel from heavy weight black cardstock and a 1/4" smaller background mat layer cut from a sheet of cardstock from the Halloween paper pad by Crafter's Companion. I edged both pieces with Spectrum Noir metallic gold pigment ink and adhered them together.
I then adhered the Wicked Wonderland Keyhole to the front panel with black foam tape for some faBOOlous dimension and the tiny bats with glue.
For the back panel I used more of the same cardstock with the glorious moon, graveyard and bats then edged the panels in gold and adhered them together. Next I embellished the back panel with more tiny purple stars and the "Welcome" hanging sign from the "Down the Rabbit Hole" Arrow and Hanging Sign set. I adhered the Wicked hanging sign in place with black foam tape and the "Keyhole of Dreams" Lost in
Wonderland chunky chipboard sticker by Prima Marketing with glue after I coloured the sides with a Spectrum Noir
metallic gold paint pen.
Now you know me, I don't do Halloween without some kind of light element or glow-in-the-dark effect! On the front panel I used Tim Holtz' Ignite Neon Alcohol ink and glow-in-the-dark paint to make the scene come alive. I then turned on the black light to reveal all the magic.
So wickedly SPOOKY!
For panel #6 I used Wicked Wonderland Keyhole
See you tomorrow for Day 17 of our 31 Days of Halloween countdown!
