Day 9 of 31 Days of Halloween
Wicked Alice in Wonderland
Panel #1
by Leigh
A magical portal to Wonderland has opened deep in Furness Forest and the air is alive with a strange new magic. Alice, suddenly feeling quite wicked, felt the magic calling to her and decided a late night stroll in Furness Forest with her black kitty was a splendid idea! Deep in the forest with her Wonderland Heart Key gripped tight in her hand she nervously realized she was lost when suddenly a wicked looking lamp post appeared. The eerie candle light flickering inside the menacing jack o' lantern made all the trees magically shimmer in the wicked moonlight and it's 3 arrow signs pointed in contradictory directions. "How curious" thought Alice, then set off determinedly in the direction of the Rabbit Hole unaware that she was being watched by the Witch of Furness Forest.
I'm finally here for Day 9 of our 31 Days of Halloween SPOOKtivities with the first in a series of panels featuring designs from my new Wicked Wonderland Halloween Collection. The panels will be stored in an ornate tin I'm altering and all will be revealed on Oct 31st π
I coloured Wicked Alice, the Wicked Lamp Post and the 3 Wicked Arrow Signs digitally
in Adobe Fresco, printed them out in various sizes then fussy cut them
all out leaving a narrow white border to make them "glow" and pop nicely
against the background. I coloured the Wicked Moon with Copics and the Cloud is from the Once Upon a Moonlit Night SVG Cutz for electronic cutting machines and I cut it out of white glitter cardstock.
I fussy cut the 3 Wicked Arrow Signs without
a white border and adhered them to two layers of heavy weight black
cardstock to make them nice and chunky and adhered them to the Wicked
Lamp Post. You can just see the silhouette of the wicked Witch of Furness Forest watching from
the trees in the background...the wicked arrow is pointing right at her in case you missed her π
Both the Wicked Witch and Hissy Cat Silhouettes SVG Cutz set and the Black Cat Silhouettes SVG Cutz set are from the Once Upon a Nightmare collection and are SVG Cutz sets for electronic cutting machines. I cut the witch and the kitty from black cardstock and applied Spectrum Noir Onyx Black glitter paint to them both for a nice dark sparkle.
Behind Wicked Alice and the Wicked Lamp Post I used a "Silver Birch" Nature's Garden Thankful and Blessed Trees Oval
die by Crafter's Companion and die cut it out of their cool tones ombre
glitter cardstock. In the photo above you can see all the sparkle and shimmer going on with the various glitter cardstocks and I also added some bling with a metallic gold gel pen to Wicked Alice's gorgeous ankle boot lace studs.
I made a template that looks like a keyhole using the ornate tin I'm altering to cut the shape of the main panel from heavy weight black cardstock and a 1/4" smaller background mat layer cut from Graphic 45's Curiouser and Curiouser black and white leaf patterned paper. I edged both pieces with Spectrum Noir metallic gold pigment ink and adhered them together. Next I adhered the die cut elements and images in place with glue to create the scene then adhered Wicked Alice and the black kitty with black foam tape for some dimension.
The back of the panel is also decorated with a mat layer cut from a gorgeous sheet of gothic floral cardstock called Thorn and Bloom by Crafter's Companion. The Lost in Wonderland chunky chipboard stickers by Prima Marketing were the perfect finishing touch to tell the story of panel #1. I coloured the sides of the chipboard pieces with a Spectrum Noir metallic gold pain pen and adhered them in place with glue.
Now you know me, I don't do Halloween without some kind of light element or glow-in-the-dark effect! I added some tiny magical dots of Tim Holtz' Neon Alcohol inks in Razzle and Ignite to the background. I'm disappointed that Razzle doesn't show up with a black light but Ignite does really well and the black light also makes all the white glow too....ooh SPOOKY!
For panel #1 I used Wicked Alice
the Wicked Lamp Post
3 arrow signs from the Wicked Arrow Signs set of 18 Wonderland and Halloween themed signs and sentiments.
From the Once Upon a Nightmare collection I used the Wicked Moon

a reversed Jinx Kitty from the Black Cat Silhouettes SVG Cutz set for electronic cutting machines

The Wicked Witch from the Wicked Witch and Hissy Cat Silhouettes SVG Cutz set
A Cloud from the Once Upon a Moonlit Night SVG Cutz set
See you tomorrow for Day 10 of our 31 Days of Halloween countdown!
Happy CRAFTober!
