Day 29 of 31 Days of Halloween
The Card Guard Chase
Panels #13 and #14
 by Leigh

Alice fled through royal rooms and down long corridors with giant Card Guards close on her heels.  The Card Guards were a terrifying sight with their wicked jack o' lantern pumpkin heads and card suit topped staffs that slashed viciously as she raced ahead of them.  Their wicked glowing faces and card suit centers cast an eerie green light that made their shadows dance menacingly on the castle walls all around her.

Alice burst through a door into another beautiful rose garden where she caught a glimpse of Card Guards searching for her beneath giant leaves and behind white rose bushes that were in the process of being painted red, which Alice found quite curious indeed.  On she ran while saying to herself "Escape! I must escape!" and repeating the friendly topiary's directions to herself...left, left, right, up, right, down, across the croquet court, past the giant taper candles and so on...making Alice feel like she had forever to go!

She raced down then up a winding staircase where angry arrow signs appeared in front of her saying "OFF WITH YOUR HEAD" and "ROYAL COURT" while jabbing at her trying to make her turn around and go back the way she came.  Alice quickly ducked under them and continued to follow the directions she was repeating over and over in her head.

From the deepening shadows a very wicked Cheshire Cat was gleefully amused watching Alice lead the Card Guards on a merry chase!

Alice finally burst through the exit door as the sun set and darkness fell upon Wicked Wonderland.

I'm back for Day 29 of our 31 Days of Halloween SPOOKtivities with a double panel spread, the 13th and 14th in a series of panels featuring designs from my new Wicked Wonderland Halloween Collection.  The panels will be stored in an ornate tin I'm altering and all will be revealed on Oct 31st 😁

I coloured the digi images in Adobe Fresco then printed and fussy cut them all out leaving a narrow white border to make them all "glow" and pop nicely against the background.

Using the keyhole template I made based on the ornate tin I'm altering, I cut the shape of the 2 main panels from heavy weight black cardstock and 1/4" smaller background mat layers for both sides of each panel cut from the gothic Thorn and Bloom paper pad by Crafter's Companion.  I then edged all the pieces with Spectrum Noir metallic gold pigment ink and adhered the mat layers to the black panels.

From a 2nd print of all 4 Card Guards I fussy cut out just their scary pumpkin heads and adhered them to the Card Guards bodies with black foam tape to create fun dimension.  I then adhered the 2 Card Guards on the front of each panel with glue.

I then adhered the mini Queen of Hearts, flying playing cards and arrow signs in place with black foam tape.

I used gold Viva Pearl 3D gel on the staff card suit shapes and the Queen of Hearts' crown.  I then painted the jack o' lanterns faces, the card suit centers and the Queen of Hearts' eyes with glow-in-the-dark paint.

I embellished each scene with metallic red confetti hearts and fussy cut bats and added magical shimmer to the images with a clear Spectrum Noir glitter brush pen.

To tell the stories of both panels I added "Forever to Go" and "Escape" Lost in Wonderland chunky chipboard stickers by Prima Marketing.  I coloured the sides of the chipboard pieces with a Spectrum Noir metallic gold paint pen and adhered them in place with glue.

Next I fussy cut out just the Wicked Cheshire Cat's head and a tiny jack o' lantern from the Falling Wicked Alice collage.  I used glue to adhere the kitty to the panel and black foam tape to adhere the pumpkin to the hat.

I added tiny magical dots of Tim Holtz' Ignite Neon Alcohol ink to all the panels and turned on the black light.

So spooky and pretty!

For panel #13 and #14 I also used

See you tomorrow for Day 30 of our 31 Days of Halloween countdown!
