Day 14 of 31 Days of Halloween
Falling Wicked Alice
Panel #4
by Leigh
Down the Wicked Rabbit Hole went Alice!
Down...Down...Down
"How long is Forever?" wondered Alice.
Alice was falling fast in slow motion with plenty of time to ponder her strange surroundings. The rabbit hole was dimly lit by flickering floating candles that glinted eerily on the spiderwebs as she fell.
Magical stars swirled around her in the flickering darkness and trapped with her in the downward spiral Alice saw creatures from Furness Forest, grinning jack o' lanterns, fluttering playing cards with a life of their own and strange alchemy symbols. Alice then sighed with relief when she spotted her bunny, knife and the White Rabbit's pocket watch spinning slowly close by.
Wondering if she would ever reach the bottom she looked down and saw a potion bottle floating up to meet her labeled "Drink Me" and took that as a sign that maybe the bottom wasn't far behind.
Suddenly Alice remembered she'd left her Heart Key hanging on the gnarly tree branch and looked up in panic hoping to see the rabbit hole entrance, but alas, all she saw was darkness. Then, glinting in the candlelight she saw her precious golden key floating above her head and stretched out her arm to try and catch it.
The panels will be stored in an ornate tin I'm altering and all will be revealed on Oct 31st π
This panel features the Falling Wicked Alice collage which I coloured digitally
in Adobe Fresco. I printed the scene out twice in 2 sizes, one larger than the other to make fussy cutting all the tiny objects easier to do.
I fussy cut everything out including the tiny stars leaving a narrow white border to make them "glow" and pop nicely
against the background.
For the pretty magical shimmer I used a clear Spectrum Noir glitter brush pen.
You can see Alice is bewitched coz her eyes are glittering in the darkness.
Using the keyhole template, made based on the shape of the ornate tin I'm altering, I cut the shape of the main panel from heavy weight black cardstock and a 1/4" smaller background mat layer cut from Recollections paper with a spiderweb design. I edged both pieces with Spectrum Noir metallic gold pigment ink and adhered them together.
I added metallic gold detail to her gorgeous gothic ankle boots with a gel pen then adhered Falling Wicked Alice in place with black foam tape for some fun dimension.
I then decorated the scene with all the floating objects which I adhered in place with glue. The tiny fussy cut floating candles are from the sheet of Crafter's Companion Halloween cardstock I used for the mat layer on the back panel.
I applied Spectrum Noir metallic gold pigment ink to the edges of the back panel and the mat layer and adhered them together. I used the "Escape the ordinary". "Down the Rabbit Hole" and "How long is forever" Lost in Wonderland chunky chipboard stickers by Prima Marketing to tell the story of panel #4. I coloured the sides of the chipboard piece with a Spectrum Noir metallic gold paint pen then adhered them to the panel with glue. I then decorated the panel with a scattering of purple glitter dots by Trinity Stamps and added shimmer to the lantern's glowing glass panels with a Spectrum Noir clear glitter brush pen.
Now you know me, I don't do Halloween without some kind of light element or glow-in-the-dark effect! For this panel I added tiny magical dots of Tim Holtz' Ignite Neon Alcohol ink then turned on the black light to reveal all the magic.
Sooo SPOOKY, I love it!
For panel #4 I used Falling Wicked Alice
See you tomorrow for Day 15 of our 31 Days of Halloween countdown!
