Day 24 of 31 Days of Halloween
"Wicked Tea Time"
Tea Cup Stack Panel #9
by Leigh
News of Alice's return traveled fast in Wicked Wonderland and the Mad Hatter immediately put the kettle on when he heard his friends were close by. Armed with the impossibly high stack of tea cups the Mad Hatter emerged from behind a rose bush to find his friends all staring at him in amazement which amused him immensely.
"Now let us puzzle over your very puzzling puzzle with a nice cup of tea" said Hatter to Alice and magically handed her a tea cup from the middle of the stack. Everyone gasped as the cup stack teetered precariously but the Mad Hatter continued on chatting completely oblivious as he handed the grumpy White Rabbit a cup.
"Now Alice, I think you should start from the beginning because that's a very good place to start a story" said Hatter much to the horror of the White Rabbit.
"You simply can't, not from the beginning, there's just no time for stories or tea, I'm so very late" sputtered the White Rabbit in panic.
"Nonsense, it's always tea time in Wonderland therefore there's always time for tea" said the Mad Hatter wisely and sat down with his tea to hear the whole story.
"First I do have just one question...why are you a cat right now?" Alice asked the Mad Hatter quizzically.
"This is my Halloween costume this year, cats do seem to have all the fun " said Hatter.
"Is Wonderland always this wicked during Halloween?" asked Alice.
"Well, that was two questions...but of course my dear, the more wicked the better" said Hatter.
After hearing Alice's adventure from start to finish with the White Rabbit scowling and muttering to himself the entire time while peering at his pocked watch every five seconds.
"I have a suspicion I might know who is behind your wicked adventure, let's pay some tricksters a little visit" declared the Mad Hatter.
I'm back for Day 24 of our 31 Days of Halloween SPOOKtivities with the 9th in a series of panels featuring designs from my new Wicked Wonderland Halloween Collection.
The panels will be stored in an ornate tin I'm altering and all will be revealed on Oct 31st π
This panel features the SPOOKtacular "Wicked Tea Time" Tea Cup Stack and Tag, the Wicked Arrow Signs as well as "Hatter" Loveleigh Kitty from the Loveleigh Kitties in Wonderland collection.
I coloured the digi images in Adobe Fresco then printed and fussy cut them out leaving a narrow white border to make them all "glow" and pop nicely
against the background. I then added magical shimmer to the images with a clear Spectrum Noir glitter brush pen.
Using
the keyhole template I made based on the ornate tin I'm altering, I cut
the shape of the main panel from heavy weight black cardstock and a
1/4" smaller background mat layer for both the front and back of the panel cut from the gothic Thorn and Bloom paper pad by Crafter's Companion. I then edged all the pieces with Spectrum Noir metallic gold pigment ink but adhered just the front panel pieces together at this point.
I
then adhered the "Wicked Tea Time" Tea Cup Stack image in place with black foam
tape for some fun dimension. I punched the hole into the "Tea Time" tag with a 1/8 inch hole punch and threaded string taken from a real tea bag through the tiny hole and attached it to the tea cup handle. I made a bow with a second tea bag string and adhered it in place with glue. I then attached the tag to the panel with black foam tape and adhered the "Tea Party" Arrow Sign in place with glue.
Next I trimmed the Hatter Loveleigh Kitty below the belt and glued him in place peeking out
from behind the Tea Cup Stack. I'm having so much with the light effects this year and for this panel I used both the glow-in-the-dark paint and the Tim Holtz Ignite Neon Alcohol ink on some tiny Tea Cup details.
For the back panel I did some more magical stenciling with Tim Holtz Distress glow-the-dark
grit paste using an Alice in Wonderland themed stencil by Crafter's
Companion that tells the story of panel #9. The cardstock design I used on this panel includes a tall black candle with the roses so I made sure the stenciling didn't cover up the flame. Once dry I adhered the stenciled layer to the back panel
with glue.
For panel #9 I used the
See you tomorrow for Day 25 of our 31 Days of Halloween countdown!
