Day 11 of 31 Days of Halloween
Wicked Rabbit Hole
Panel #2
by Leigh
Alice found the Rabbit Hole deep in the center of Furness Forest where few dared to venture. It was pulsating with the strange new magic as wicked jack o' lanterns menacingly watched from the gnarly tree and bats flew above by the light of a purple crescent moon. "How spooky, I'm glad I brought my knife with me on this adventure" thought Alice.
Alice stopped on the pathway and noticed the arrow sign nailed to the tree pointing down that said 'Rabbit Hole', "well I do declare this is indeed the way to Wonderland" Alice said to herself.
She hung her Heart Key on a branch and with hands on her knees she peered curiously down into the hole filled with magical stars. The purple, green, blue and orange spells were mesmerizing as they swirled together faster and faster...then suddenly, the magic burst into the night air surrounding Alice.
Suddenly her cat ear hair band sprouted rabbit ears and her favourite fluffy rabbit doll magically appeared in her arms. Looking around in amazement she noticed the White Rabbit's pocket watch nestled at the base of the tree, "how strange, it seems the rabbit hole needs me to be the White Rabbit to enter Wonderland this time" thought Alice.
While feeling uncertain about visiting Wonderland during Halloween bat wings magically appeared at her ankles and started to flap. As Alice began to float she said, "oh dear, I don't think I have a choice in the matter".
The panels will be stored in an ornate tin I'm altering and all will be revealed on Oct 31st π
I coloured Curious Wicked Alice and the Wicked Rabbit Hole digitally
in Adobe Fresco, printed them out in various sizes so I had a selection to choose from. I then fussy cut out the ones I picked for this panel leaving a narrow white border to make them "glow" and pop nicely
against the background.
Using the keyhole template I made based on the shape of the ornate tin I'm altering I cut the shape of the main panel from heavy weight black cardstock and a 1/4" smaller background mat layer cut from Graphic 45's Curiouser and Curiouser black and white leaf patterned paper. I edged both pieces with Spectrum Noir metallic gold pigment ink and adhered them together.
I adhered the Wicked Rabbit Hole and the 3 tiny bats, which I fussy cut out separately, in place with glue. I just realized while writing this that my little Candy Bat is missing from the scene...darn it...I'll have to add him later once I've hunted down the little rascal! I then adhered Curious Wicked Alice in place with black foam tape for some fun dimension.
I then embellished the entire panel with metallic confetti stars, I've had in my stash for decades, in a variety of sizes in purple, pink, blue and silver. I also added glittery purple "bubble" spots by Trinity Stamps to the scene.
The back of the panel is also decorated with a mat layer cut from a gorgeous sheet of gothic floral cardstock called Thorn and Bloom by Crafter's Companion. The Lost in Wonderland chunky chipboard stickers by Prima Marketing were the perfect finishing touch to tell the story of panel #2. I coloured the sides of the chipboard pieces with a Spectrum Noir metallic gold paint pen and adhered them in place with glue. I also added a sprinkle of the purple glitter spots.
Now you know me, I don't do Halloween without some kind of light element or glow-in-the-dark effect! For this panel I added tiny magical dots of Tim Holtz' Ignite Neon Alcohol ink and turned on the black light. I love how the black light also makes the white areas in the whole scene glow too, sooo SPOOKY!
For panel #2 I used Wicked Rabbit Hole
See you tomorrow for Day 12 of our 31 Days of Halloween countdown!
