Day 11
"When Witches Go Riding"
window card by Leigh

Once Upon a Nightmare when Witches go riding and Black Cats are seen, the Moon laughs and whispers...'tis near Halloween!

On the 11th Day of our 31 Days of Halloween Hop+Challenge I'm back with a wicked window card featuring digi stamps and SVG Cutz from my new Once Upon a Nightmare Collection!

To make my window card I first opened the Fern Frame in Silhouette Studio and created an exterior and interior offset of the design.  I used the offset to make the mat layer which I cut from purple cardstock.  I then designed a folded window card and used the interior offset cut line to make the window aperture and cut the window card out from Crafter's Companion black glitter cardstock using my Silhouette Cameo 4.

I then opened the "Witches Go Riding" saying included in my new A Wicked Compendium of Halloween Sayings in Silhouette Studio and sized it to fit the window aperture and then sized the rectangle cut shape for the saying panel to fit inside the card.

I made my mixed media cardstock with Peeled Paint, Crushed Olive and Speckled Egg Distress Oxide sprays and printed out the Fern Frame and the "Witches Go Riding" saying.  I ended up fussy cutting the Fern Frame and Saying panel out by hand coz my Cameo suddenly refused to recognize the registration marks even though I'd just cut another printed Distress Oxide sheet...ugh, I'll test that again later, I'm hoping it was just a temporary glitch.

I then cut the 3 layers of the Wicked Moon included in the Once Upon a Moonlit Night Colourize It SVG Cutz set using the Distress Oxide cardstock for the top layer, purple cardstock for the middle layer and black glitter card for the base layer.  I then applied Black Soot Distress ink to the edges of all the Distress Oxide cut pieces.

I cut the Wicked Witch and Hissy Cat Silhouettes Layered SVG Cutz and a Bat included in the Gothic Nightmare Catcher SVG Cutz set from matte black cardstock.

I cut a mat layer for the saying panel from purple cardstock and a black mat the same size as the card base and assembled the inside of the card.  I then layered up the Fern Frame and adhered it to the window aperture on the front of the card then added the Wicked Witch, Hissy cat and the Moon to the front and the Bat to the saying panel on the inside.

Tuck in a flameless tea light candle inside the open card for a dramatic spooky effect!

  5. Awesome spooky card Leigh, and it looks great with the tealight inside it too. I think you were asking me which cat fountain I bought? It was the Catit Flower Fountain, though I don't use the flower part. Happy Halloween! Elle/EOTC xx
