π Reaper Luminary π
by Leigh
I love love love luminaries and had an absolute blast making this one featuring my wicked new Reaper from this year’s Halloween release!
I printed Reaper out onto a sheet of vellum and applied Tim’s Cranberry, Terra Cotta, Ginger and Caramel Alcohol Inks to the reverse side to create the distressed luminary panel.
The frame is a gorgeous cut file I found at the Silhouette Design store by Rivka Wilkins which I modified by removing elements from the center oval and I also resized it and elongated the shape. I cut the frame out twice from black heavy weight cardstock for strength and twice from diamond patterned cardstock. I glued one of each panel together and then grunged everything up with Fired Brick and Black Soot Distress Inks and a coat of Tim’s crazing medium to simulate rusted metal. Then adhered the vellum panel to the back of one of the frame pieces.
I applied Bronze Viva Decor Pearl pen to the cobweb cutouts on the front panel of the frame to create a beautiful stained glass effect that sparkles during the day and dances prettily in flickering candle light at night. I then assembled the frame by adhering the 2 panels together just along the top edge and scored a crease line to the back top edge to form the easel.
The finishing touch was the Jillibean Soup "Something Wicked" sentiment cut file from Silhouette which I converted into a print and cut and coloured with Fired Brick, Tea Dye and Black Soot Distress Inks then mounted onto the frame with black foam tape.
Here's a little video showing the luminary in action!
