Altered Coffin Box

My make for Day 3 of our SPOOKTACULAR 31 Days of Halloween Blog Hop is a faBOOlous altered paper mache coffin box featuring Digi Stamps, SVG Cutz and Decorative Digi Papers from my new THIS IS HALLOWEEN 2023 Collection 🎃
The faBOOlous Incy Wincy Spider slimline digi stamp in the shape of a
coffin is the focal point of my altered paper mache coffin box. The scene depicts a stack of gleefully grinning pumpkins snugly
nestled inside the coffin shape with the top pumpkin delighted at the
sight of the spider descending from the spiderweb above them 🎃
I printed out the Incy Wincy Spider slimline digi stamp and coloured it up with Copics, Prismacolor pencils and white gel pen details. I then cut out the digi coffin shape by hand and mounted the panel onto two mat layers cut using my new Slimline Coffin SVG Nesting Cutz set and my Silhouette Cameo 4 electronic cutting machine. The top mat is cut from Crafter's Companion purple linen textured card and the bottom layer from an orange printed sheet covered with Halloween themed wording from my new This is Halloween Decorative Digi Paper pack. I first applied Black Soot Distress ink to the edges of the main panel and the orange mat layer and then Spectrum Noir metallic gold pigment ink to the edges of all three layers. I then adhered all 3 layers together and to the box lid with black foam tape to create some fun dimension.
I first painted the paper mache coffin box with Aleene's black pearl acrylic paint. Then created the lid panel and the side panels from orange and green printed sheets from my This is Halloween Decorative Digi Paper pack and applied Black Soot Distress ink to all the edges.
All the panels where then adhered to the box surfaces with Ranger Collage Medium and then I painted over everything with Ranger Collage Medium Crazing to give it the fun weathered textured look.
I decorated the sides of the coffin box lid with narrow Recollections washi tape and covered up the join with a tiny print and cut, using my Silhouette Cameo 4, of the "This is Halloween" senti from my new This is Halloween Slimline Bat and 2 Senties Digi Stamp Set which I then tinted with Tea Dye and Dried Marigold Distress ink.
I finished off my faBOOlous altered coffin box with 3 tiny Tim Holtz Bats, one from the Bat Crazy die set and two from a mixed media die set. I adhered them in place with a tiny dab of Ranger Collage Medium so I could bend up their wings.

ReplyDeleteI LOVE THIS! That green painted on the coffin is so yummy. And I adore the little 3d bats you've added. I didn't comment on yesterday's make by Val because of forgetting to link my Day 2, but I thought her slimline bat card was stunning.
