Day 29 of 31 Days of Halloween
This is Halloween
Shaker Coffin Easel Slimline Card
by Leigh
Can you believe we're now in the final stretch of our Halloween SPOOKtivities, October always scarily goes by in the blink of an eye when we're having such spooktacular fun π
My Day 29 of 31 Days of Halloween make is a SPOOKtacular Shaker Coffin Easel Slimline Card featuring Digi Stamps, SVG Cutz and Decorative Digi Papers from my new THIS IS HALLOWEEN 2023 Collection π
I used the faBOOlous coffin shaped Incy Wincy Spider slimline digi stamp and the coffin shaped shaker frame from the Slimline Coffin Shaker Make-a-Card SVG Cutz set to make my shaker panel. I cut the overlay frame from black cardstock and the mat layer from Scrapbook.com's orange glitter paper on my Silhouette Cameo 4 electronic cutting machine and adhered the panels together. I then adhered a piece of acetate cut to the same size to the back of the frame.
I added 1/4" narrow foam tape to the outer edge of my Incy Wincy Spider slimline panel, which I coloured with Copics, Prismacolor pencils and a white gel pen, to make the shaker wall and filled it with metallic stars, moons, bats, pumpkins and tiny confetti pieces and adhered the shaker frame on top. I then edged the assembled shaker panel with Spectrum Noir metallic gold pigment ink.
To make my easel card base I used the largest cut layer from the Slimline Coffins Nesting SVG Cutz set and cut out 6 coffin shaped panels from black cardstock. I then made a hinge from a small rectangle piece of black cardstock scored down the center and attached 2 of the coffin panels (#1 and #2) together with the hinge at the top edge to make a top fold coffin shaped card. I then scored the top panel of the card in half to form the easel mechanism. To give the easel card more rigidity and to hide the hinge I then adhered 2 more coffin panels (#3 and #4) to the existing coffin shaped card base. I then adhered panels #5 and #6 together to form one panel and adhered it to the lower half of the scored easel mechanism. Next I edged both the top and inside edges of the easel card base with Spectrum Noir metallic gold pigment ink and adhered the shaker panel to the front panel of the easel card.
To decorate the "inside" of the Shaker Coffin Easel Card I used 3 more of the concentric nesting layers included in the Slimline Coffins Nesting SVG Cutz set. From large to small I cut a mat layer from Scrapbook.com's green glitter paper, the next mat from black cardstock and then the smaller top panel from a purple print of my This is Halloween Decorative Digi Paper.
I edged the purple print panel with with Spectrum Noir metallic gold pigment ink then adhered all the layers to the base of the easel card. To make the easel stopper I used the print and cut feature in Silhouette Studio to print and then cut out the "This is Halloween" sentiment from the This is Halloween Slimline Bat and Senti set with an offset and a matching mat layer cut from black cardstock also edged in metallic gold pigment ink and secured in place with black foam tape.
The wicked pumpkin is from another print of Incy Wincy Spider which I fussy cut out plus the stalk I had left over from the Fall Pumpkins and adhered them together to the card with glue.
I also added 2 tiny bats from the Tim Holtz Halloween Mixed Media die set cut from black cardstock.
The finishing touch was the large bat from the Tim Holtz Moonlight die set which I cut from black cardstock and painted with Distress Crazing Medium for a fun textured look.
