Day 1
Quoth the Raven, "Nevermore"
POE Puss Loveleigh Kitty Card
by Leigh

Happy Birthday Edgar Allan Poe ❤
How are you celebrating Poe's birthday today?  I've just finished watching The Fall of the House of Usher mini series which was a truly POEtastic new tale based on his stories and poems and tonight I'm re-watching John Cusack's movie The Raven!

Now I"m kicking off our 9th Edgar Allan Poe creativities with this handsome card featuring my brand new Edgar Allan POE Puss!  Isn't he the most handsome adorable kitty you've ever seen😸

I coloured Edgar Allan POE Puss in Adobe Fresco and printed him out in various sizes then further enhanced my colouring with Prismacolor pencils.

To make Poe Puss pop nicely against the background papers I fussy cut him out leaving a narrow white border then adhered him to black cardstock and fussy cut that out too leaving a narrow black border.

To make the scroll background I scanned a page of Poe's poem,The Raven, from one of the Poe books in my collection and used a Lisa Horton Parchment Scroll 3D embossing folder and die set to create the scroll shape.  I chose a portion of the poem that included the well known phrase, Quoth the Raven, "Nevermore."  I then coloured the scroll with Tea Dye, Vintage Photo and Black Soot Distress inks and edged it with Spectrum Noir Midas Gold pigment ink.

I fussy cut a mat for the scroll from black cardstock and mounted the scroll onto the mat with black foam tape.  I then made a side fold card from heavy weight black cardstock and cut a decorative panel a quarter inch smaller from a sheet of Tim Holtz Departed raven themed paper.  I then edged the panel with gold pigment ink and adhered it and the scroll the card base with glue.

I adhered Edgar Allan POE Puss in place down the right side of the scroll with glue and foam tape.   The "Edgar Allan Poe" text is from my Romancing Poe Collage and 2 Senties set with the colours reversed, printed and fussy cut out with an offset using my Silhouette Cameo 4.  I adhered the text to a multi-layered chunky label I made from some cut outs left over from a die set I thought looked like arrows and edged it in gold ink.

To complete my card I embellished it with 3 metallic gold self-adhesive gems and a lacy die cut corner from my stash I'd previously cut from black cardstock and coloured with a clear Spectrum Noir sparkle brush pen.

I hope my first make for our 9th annual Edgar Allan Poe Birthday Celebrations has inspired you to join the fun!  All the deets and the linky are in the MAIN POST!
