Day 1
"Loveleigh Kitties in Wonderland"
Gothic Valentine Card
by Leigh
I'm kicking off our Gothic Valentine CREATivities today with a PURRtastic Valentine make featuring my new Loveleigh Kitties in Wonderland Collection of quirky cute digi stamp Wonderland characters.
I love how adorable the 5 of them look in this collaged group scene and printed out my coloured image in black and white for today's Gothic Valentine make.
The Loveleigh Kitties in Wonderland Characters are available in a Bundle and individually:
Alice, Hatter, Queen, Cheshire and Rabbit. I used a large heart shaped die from a new die set called Beautiful Butterfly by Crafter's Companion to die cut out my cute kitties.
I then used the heart die as a stencil to make a matching mat layer
that's just slightly larger than the die cut. I traced the shape onto
deep red cardstock and cut the mat out with scissors.
I applied Black Soot Distress Ink to the edges of the die cut heart which also helped tone down the white of the cardstock and give the scene a more Gothic vibe.
The only colour I added to the image scene is the pretty deep red Nuvo dimensional drops which I applied to all the hearts in the image.
The large square die cut panel is also from the Beautiful Butterfly by Crafter's Companion die set. I die cut the panel from black cardstock and adhered it to a mat layer I cut from a beautiful deep red glitter cardstock. I then applied Spectrum Noir Midas Gold pigment ink directly to the red heart
shaped mat and the black decorative die cut panel for a touch of
distressed elegance. I embellished all 4 corners with little flourish pieces that came out of the black die cut panel and applied the red Nuvo drops to them to create the 3D elements.
I made a 5.5 x 5.5 inch top fold card from linen textured deep red cardstock and mounted the square black decorative panel, with the red glitter mat attached, onto the folded card. I then mounted the heart panel to the heart shaped center of the black panel with black foam tape for some fun dimension.
To complete my card I made a little red bow from silk ribbon and tucked it in above the heart. I then embellished the bow center with a little black die cut flower, you'll see where that came from in my next make, and added a tiny red glitter heart edged in metallic gold to the flower center.
I do hope you'll visit us each day and enjoy our Gothic Valentine makes and be inspired to join in on our mini Gothic Valentine Hop. All the info and the linky are below!
