"Bird Wings" Window Hanging for Blockheads

Hello Friends!
This month the Blockheads design team are featuring projects created with Grungeboard.  Last week I shared my faux metal scraps photo frame and this week I've been playing with Grungeboard Alphabets, Distress Stains and Crackle Paint, StazOn ink, Blockheads Bird stamps and recycled acetate!

My "Bird Wings" window hanging is sort of along the lines of a sun catcher except it is more of an art piece that allows you to still view the nature out the window through the acetate frame!

In the baggie of Grungeboard provided by Blockheads Paper Arts I was thrilled to find enough assorted Alphabets letters to make up the words 'Bird' and 'Wings'.  I stained the letters front and back with Distress Stains Stormy Sky and Bundled Sage then edged them with Black Soot Distress ink.  I recycled a Sizzix die box made from acetate and used the largest Spellbinders Labels 8 die as a template to cut out the shape which I then decorated with various bird and feather images from Blockheads Frogs and Birds set stamped with Jet Black StazOn ink.

I poked holes along the bottom edge of the 'Bird' letters and the upper edge of the 'Wings' letters then painted them with Rock Candy Distress Crackle Paint.  Then rubbed Black Soot Distress Ink over them once dry to bring out the cracks then rubbed away the excess ink with a piece of paper towel.  I attached the letters together with silver jump rings and adhered them to the acetate frame with Judikins Diamond Glaze.  I then punched 2 holes into the top edge of the frame, attached jump rings and tied on off-white sheer ribbon so it can be hung in front of a window.  For the finishing touch I also stamped another bird onto a scrap piece of acetate, fussy cut it out and adhered it to the letter 'n'.

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your week!
