Slimline Shaker Card Tutorial

Shaker cards are so much fun and my new Cherry Blossom Stained Glass Window SVG Cutz sets make shakers even more fabulous! Today I'm going to show you how to make a stunning slimline shaker card with multiple shaker sections featuring my new Party Puss Loveleigh Kitty and Cherry Blossom Slimline Stained Glass Window SVG Cutz set.

First I coloured Party Puss Loveleigh Kitty digitally in Adobe Fresco in a fun pastel palette and imported the coloured digi into Silhouette Studio where I added an offset. Using Silhouette's "print and cut" feature I printed out the kitty and used my Silhouette Cameo 5 electronic cutting machine with the Electrostatic Mat to fussy cut him out.
Now to cut out all the elements included in my new Cherry Blossom Slimline Stained Glass Window SVG Cutz set.
Using my Silhouette Cameo 5 I cut the intricate Cherry Blossom Stained Glass Window overlay that features leaded panels and two large cherry blossom flowers out of black cardstock and the shadow layer out brown cardstock to look like a wooden window frame. For the view outside the window I chose a floral decorative cardstock by Crafter's Companion and used it to cut out the background panel.
Next I cut out the two intricate Cherry Blossom overlays from peach cardstock and the matching mat layers from a vintage cream and pink polka dot decorative paper. For lots of pretty sparkle I applied Diamond Stickles glitter glue to the Cherry Blossom overlays and put them aside to dry.
Next I adhered the Cherry Blossom mats and the brown shadow layer to the back of the black stained glass window overlay. Then adhered a sheet of acetate to the back of the brown panel and trimmed it down to the same size.
To create the shaker sections I first framed the entire panel with narrow foam tape then added strips to the two middle beams and also blocked off the flower centers to keep the shaker contents contained in each section.
I filled all the sections with iridescent crystal glitter that consists of chunky tiny strips instead of traditional glitter and adhered the floral panel to the foam tape to seal the shaker panel.
I then adhered the two glittered Cherry Blossom overlays to the front of the stained glass window.
All the sparkle is pretty!
To make my slimline card I made a 4" x 9" folded card base from pastel pink cardstock and a mat layer slightly smaller from a sheet of Crafter's Companion cardstock with a pretty blue floral design.
I adhered the stained glass window shaker to the card front leaving a larger space along the bottom edge for a sentiment. I chose "Enjoy Today" from the Tim Holtz metallic sticker book in black and gold.
I then added my fun Party Puss kitty cat to the card and embellished his party hat with a metallic gold pearl.
Now for a look at the finished slimline shaker card that's PURRfect for birthday cards for cat people of all ages as well as fun and unique Spring cards too!
I love how the sectioned off shaker areas lets all the glitter sit along the bottom edge of the window panes instead of all piling up at the bottom of the window.
I completed my card with some fun stamping on the inside with Crafter's Companion "Purrfect Cat" cat themed clear stamps.
