"The Black Cat"

For today's finale I created a scene from Poe's macabre tale, The Black Cat, using Wiccan Moon and the portrait from the Edgar Allan Poe Portrait and Signature set.

 

This story is so disturbing on so many levels....what happened to the kitties, never mind the wife, is just horrendous!  Just like the story this piece is bristling with symbolism.

 

 

 I bricked Poe up in the wall while the Black Cat looks on and gave the piece a fractured look with crooked edges.  I'll leave you to ponder the symbolism and draw your own conclusions while the tale haunts your nightmares until next year's Edgar Allan Poe Appreciation Blog Hop....see you in 2022 mwahahahahaha😁

 

 

 I used a die by Crafter's Companion and a Distress Oxide sprayed watercolour background to create the brick wall and watercolour painted Poe and the Wiccan Moon kitty with Distress Inks and watercolour crayons for a grungy look.  I used black 3D foam tape to create the depth for the wall crack and added stone pieces from the wall die cuts at the top and bottom of the crack leaving Poe's tortured face peering out.

Today I'm sharing some past Poe makes of mine and LeighSBDesigner Val's featuring the Oddleigh Poe collection of fun and quirky designs.

 

Val thanks you all for your well wishes❤️  She's improving each day but still very weak and in bed still.

Val also made this striking tag using Oddleigh Edgar Allan Poe.

Val created a magical misty background to feature Oddleigh Raven Nevermore on this beauty!

 

 On this fun mixed media make I used the Oddleigh Poe and Raven Set and Oddleigh Cherished Heart set with her Heart border.  Poe is holding a Gothic Rose, the background is the Scratched Hearts collage and the sentiment is from the Dark Sentiments 1 set.  Check out my original post HERE!

Happy New Year - Oddleigh Elf card by Leigh!

Happy New Year Creative Friends!

Today is the last day to add the Oddleigh New Year Elf and Fireworks set to your collections!  The SALE on this cutie ends tonight at midnight pacific!

 

❄️ Oddleigh New Year ❄️

I printed the Oddleigh New Year Elf and Fireworks scene out onto mixed media cardstock then had lots of fun painting her with aqua pencils.  I used a metallic gold gel pen on her party hat tassels and the Happy New Year senti on her sign.  For lots of pretty sparkle I added crystal Stickles to her party hat tassles, snowflakes and the hat rim as well as the snowflake on her dress.

 

 

I then painted the background and fireworks with Spectrum Noir Sparkle glitter brush pens.

The glitter has an encrusted texture to it and super sparkly in real life.  I also added crystal Stickles to the Fireworks for even more sparkle. 

 

 

To get the effect of bursts of fireworks light mixed in with snowfall I created a mottled distressed look by splashing the background with water and removing paint with paper towel.  I then added white snowflake speckles with a white Dylusions paint pen and splattered the entire scene with Tarnished Brass Distress Spray Stain.  I then edged the panel with Spectrum Noir Midas gold pigment ink and matted it onto black cardstock and then mounted everything onto a panel of Distress Oxide Sprayed background cardstock I'd previously made and had in my stash.  I then completed the card by edging the Distress Oxide panel with Black Soot Distress Ink.
