Tutorial Tuesdays: First Responder Tribute - Foiled Luminary Frame by Leigh!

Howzit Creative Friends!
Today I'm showing you how to make a lovely mini luminary frame foiled in silver featuring my "First Responder Tribute" drawings.  I've been having so much fun playing with my new Gemini Foilpress by Crafter's Companion.

In remembrance of Sept 11th and to honour all First Responders I released my drawing the "First Responder Tribute" to raise funds and help our brave First Responders.  There's a little Boy and a little Girl version for you to choose from!

Please help support our brave First Responders and never forget what they do for us!
I will donate a $1 from each sale of the drawing to the Gary Sinise Foundation!
See my release post for more details!

The glow from a tea light behind the open backed frame illuminates the drawing beautifully.

"First Responder Tribute" Foiled Luminary Frame
Tutorial by Leigh

Here's a little video tutorial showing the lovely Foiled Luminary Frame in action and below is step by step instructions too!
Enjoy!

The gorgeous silver foiled frame featuring the little boy version of the "First Responder Tribute"

Supplies used:
"First Responder Tribute" drawing mini prints
Gemini Foilpress and Gemini Jr machines by Crafter's Companion
Gemini Foilpress Ornate Frame Stamp 'n Cut die
Foilpress Silver foil
Sheena Black Cardstock
Red liner tape

Foil and die cut out the ornate frame in silver foil using the Gemini Foilpress Stamp 'n Cut die and heavy weight black cardstock.

Die cut out the same ornate frame twice from heavy weight black cardstock.  This time I ran the die through my Gemini jr without adding foiling to the debossed design.

To make the easel stand for the frame score a fold line about 1/3 from the top edge of one of the die cut frame panels.

Use the foiled frame panel and the 2nd die cut panel to create the frame.

Use the mini print as a guide apply red line tape to the back of the foiled frame on just 3 sides, leaving one long side of the frame open, and adhere the two panels together.

Apply red line tape to the upper portion of the easel stand and adhere it to the back of the foiled frame.

Alternate back of the frame:
If you plan to make a permanent framed piece you can adhere the rectangle piece left over from the die cut to the back of the frame.

But to make a luminary frame leave the back of the frame open!

Slide the mini print into the frame on the open side and place a tea light between the frame and the easel stand to illuminate the print.

"First Responder Tribute" is a beautiful realistic drawing of a child giving a "Flower of Thanks" to a kneeling fireman.  This nostalgic scene is both heart wrenching and heartwarming and is a symbol of bravery, gratitude and loss.

Pay tribute to your local First Responders!
Our beautiful planet is being ravaged by natural and man made disasters and our First Responders risk their lives for us every single day!  Join me in paying tribute to our local Firehouses and Police Stations and make cards for them to say "Thank You" for everything they do!

I look forward to seeing your creations using this beautiful tribute drawing!
