MerWitch Water Shaker Card
by Leigh
For today's finale inspiration I'm sharing a really wicked and super cool project!
I made a water shaker card featuring the digital painting of MerWitch I shared with you on Wednesday!
I printed out my digital painting and colour coordinated the die cuts and textures to match MerWitch's glorious hair and body! She is drop dead as she looks at us through the ocean window surrounded by all the vibrant metallics and sparkle.
In addition to all that luscious metallic goodness, the magical focus of the card is the "water shaker" die cut window. Water Shakers really give a card the WOW factor and are so much fun to make but remember they involve real liquid so aren't for mailing, only for gifting personally๐
To make a "water shaker" pouch cut a plastic page protector to size and fully seal three sides shut with a Creative HotMarks hot tool (We R Memory Keepers has one too). Leave a gap in the seal on the 4th side and fill the pouch with goodies and a gel-like liquid, I used clear hand sanitizer. I recommend you test the shaker goodies with the liquid first to avoid unwanted surprises. I tested mine with copper microbeads and all the copper colour stripped off and turned the liquid orange....hmmm interesting, will be cool for a future project but I wanted clear liquid for this one so scrapped the beads. I used Recollections mini Round Gems, The Robin's Nest Tear Drops and also trapped in some real air bubbles too. Once the pouch is full seal the gap shut with the hot tool and move onto making the card.
For the background I embossed a 5x7 inch piece of black cardstock with an Ocean Waves embossing folder. This is a fun design, I think it also looks like flowing mermaid hair and entwined seaweed. I then die cut out the window with a torn edge circle die and applied Gold and Bronze Gilding Wax to enhance the design! It looks so rich and gorgeous!
The starfish were stamped onto metallic copper cardstock and mounted onto black cardstock. I then die cut them and the Halloween sentiment out. The corner embellishments were die cut from black cardstock which I first covered with onyx black Spectrum Noir sparkle pen to add some yummy subtle shimmer to the card too.
I adhered the water shaker pouch to the back of the embossed panel with strong double-sided adhesive tape then adhered MerWitch to the back of the pouch. The entire panel was then mounted onto a folded card base made from black cardstock with strips of clear double sided foam tape to accommodate the thickness of the water shaker pouch. I then decorated the card front with all the die cut elements! I love how it turned out and so does Neo๐ป
