Hi everyone, for today's tutorial I'm sharing the Technique Folder I made with the beautiful Fall Roses gracing the cover.
To start I printed out Fall Roses onto white mixed media cardstock and coloured it up using Hobby Art watercolour markers.
I used 5 colours and created my own mixed blends by applying the tip of the lightest of each colour marker to the tip of each of the darkest colours and applied colour to the design. If you haven't tried this technique before then don't worry it doesn't damage the markers in any way, the lightest markers return to their original colour as you colour.
I used bright yellow and combined it with beige and yellow green combined with a mid green. I then used natural beige over the entire design, roses and leaves, to create seamless blends.
I then fussy cut out the design ready to decorate the cover of my folder.
Now for the folder!
I used a sheet of corrugated card and cut it to measure 5.75" x 5.25". Find the center of the panel and score 2 lines to create a spine 1.75" wide.
Then cut 2 pieces of patterned paper the same size as the folder covers and a piece for the spine.
I had a little accident with some black gesso and ended up using a different coloured paper with the same pattern.
Then cut 2 panels and a spine from black cardstock for the inside of the covers.
Adhere the patterned papers and the black cardstock to the corrugated panel with your favourite adhesive. I used Mod Podge.
Apply black and white polka dot washi tape to the spine folds and the folder edges.
Punch 2 holes into the spine and thread bakers twine through the holes.
Create pages for the folder from white cardstock about 1/4" smaller than the folder cover. Decide what you'd like to use your folder for and create pages from an assortment of papers and cardstocks. Score and fold the page panels in half and then tuck them under the fiber inside the folder and tie a knot and a bow on the outside of the spine to secure the pages.
Adhere the Fall Roses to the cover of the folder with your favourite adhesive and your folder is now finished and ready to use. I'm using mine to store stamping techniques in, what will you use yours for?
