"Alice in the Looking Glass" The East Wind DT

Howzit Friends!
It's time for our 2nd blog challenge over at The East Wind!  Here's my DT inspiration project for Challenge #67 Oh So Shapely.  The challenge is to create a shaped project or use a shapely image and I created this piece called "Alice in the Looking Glass" using a faux tarnished mirror technique.

I used The East Wind digi stamp called Aurora - Mirrorina and adjusted the size of the image in Photoshop CS6 to perfectly fit the largest of the elongated oval Spellbinders die.  I printed her out on regular printer paper and coloured her with Copics with white Dylusions paint pen highlights.

I then die cut out the image and applied two coats of Judikins Diamond Glaze.  Once dry I wet the back of the image and gently rubbed away the paper to create the decal and let it completely dry.  To create the faux tarnished mirror effect I then adhered the decal to tin foil (aluminum foil) and trimmed away the excess.

To create my standing mirror project I then die cut out a scalloped elongated oval (Spellbinders) from black cardstock and matted the "mirror" to it.  For a touch of elegance and shimmer I painted the black scalloped edges with clear Wink of Stella and embellished the frame edge with black diamonds.  The gems came on a self adhesive strip but I wanted to create my own pattern of alternating sizes so I removed them from the strip and adhered each one in place with Scotch Quick Dry adhesive and filled in the gaps with Inkssentials Black Enamel Accents.  I then adhered the piece to a black wooden base and completed my project with paper roses adhered along the bottom edge.

Come and join the fun at The East Wind...we have 2 blog challenges every month and fun challenges on on our TEW Facebook Group too!
