"Lady of the Lake" 3D Paper Art introducing Dark Attic Challenges!

Howzit Everyone!
There's a new challenge blog called Dark Attic Challenges in blogland geared specifically towards the darker side of art and our first challenge starts today!  Dark Attic challenges will always be Anything Goes as long as your projects are of a creepy, dark, alternative nature and will always start on the LAST Tuesday of every month!  I'm thrilled to be a part of this new adventure as a member of a very talented design team!

Our first challenge is sponsored by Delicious Doodles and Shadow Clocksey and my project today features a gorgeous digi called Vivienne Lady of the Lake by

https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/ArtiDoodles

I absolutely loved creating my Lillith and the Lillies project the last time I used a Delicious Doodle digi so I couldn't resist creating another 3D paper art piece with this image too!

Lilleth and the Lillies 3D paper art
This 3D paper art piece consists of 3 layers of fussy cut hair, lily pads and the sword.  The finished piece is matted first on black cardstock then colour coordinating blue cardstock and then onto a final black mat.  The layers were all cut with my Perfect Layers tools

I started out by printing the Lady of the Lake digi onto Neenah solar white cardstock and coloured her with Copic markers with highlights added with a white gel pen once the entire piece was completed.  I scanned the coloured image into Photoshop CS6 and printed it out 3 times.  I selected all the elements I wanted to layer and fussy cut out all the pieces which were then adhered in place with a combination of Scotch Quick Dry adhesive and pop dots.  I layered the sword and hands to further enhance the effect that she's reaching out of the depths of the lake and offering it to you.

I completed my piece with 3D shimmery water droplets with a Viva Pearl pen in Magic Transparent White.  The collage photo below shows the layered areas in detail and the shimmery droplets, click on all the photos to enlarge them for a better look.

Thank you for stopping by today and I hope you'll come and play in our Dark Attic Challenges!
Before you go I'd like to remind you that I now have 3 new Facebook Groups that you might like to check out if you're into Gothic art, all art genres ending in "-punk" and Egyptian inspired art!

Happy Stamping!

Lost Coast Designs CRACKED CRITTERS Showcase Cards!

Howzit Everyone!
I hope you all had a fabulous Earth Day weekend!
Starting today we are celebrating Earth Day over at Lost Coast Portal to Creativity with a week long showcase of our funky
CRACKED CRITTERS COLLECTION by Lost Coast Designs!

http://www.lost-coast-designs.com/new.html

Stop by each day for some wonderful and wacky inspiration by my fellow LCDesigners and join the fun with your own Cracked Critter creations by linking up your projects in the linky to be in the running to win a $10 shopping spree at Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda!

I'm kicking of the showcase today with two Cracked Critter inspirational bird cards!

DREAM showcases Lost Coast Designs large Cracked Bird on Wheels.
I also used "Dream" from the Dream, Magic, Love Dictionary set, Doodles Circles and the Spray Webbing background.  The glorious splashes of colour are Nuances Powders by Magenta and they are available at Lost Coast Designs!

Here's a closer look at Cracked Bird on Wheels!
FREEDOM showcases our large Cracked Chicken
I also used Lost Coast Designs "Freedom" from the Harmony, Peace, Joy, Freedom Dictionary set, Doodles Circles, Three Trees from Carmen's Veranda and Nuances Powders!

Here's a closer look at Cracked Chicken!
Both cards started out in the same way....I cut two 5" x 5" panels from white cardstock and then chose my Nuance Powders colours.  I sprinkled tiny specks of the colours randomly onto a Tim Holtz craft sheet and sprtized with water.  The Nuance Powders pack a punch and you only need a minuscule amount to achieve those glorious vibrant colours!  I laid one cardstock panel onto the craft sheet to apply the Nuance colours and put it to one side to dry, cleaned my craft sheet and repeated the above steps with a different variation of colours.  I then fully dried the panels with my heat tool and ironed them flat again with my craft iron because the water caused the cardstock to buckle a bit.

Now for the stamping...I first stamped a portion of the Spray Webbing background with Hint of Pesto VersaMagic ink along the bottom of the "DREAM" card, first lightly stamping on scrap paper to remove some of the ink for a lighter and more distressed look.  I did the same thing with the Doodles Circles stamped in Sea Breeze VersaMagic ink on the upper portion of the card.  I then stamped the "FREEDOM" card in the same way but stamped the Three Trees on the right hand side in Hint of Pesto and the Doodles Circles in Dandelion Memento ink on the rest of the card.

Both birds were then stamped with Onyx Black VersaFine ink and the Dictionary text stamped with Tuxedo Black Memento ink just for a suitable difference in the shades of black used.  I hand wrote the rest of the text with a black Copic fineliner and drew in the narrow black frames too.  I then further enhanced the stamped birds with Prismacolor coloured pencils to make some of the details pop.  I then distressed the edges of both panels with Tim's Paper Distresser tool before layering onto the various cardstock mats in yellow, blue and black.  I used my Perfect Layers tools to cut the perfect borders for each mat and adhered everything with Scotch Quick Dry adhesive.  I love how they both turned out, they were so much fun to make!

I hope you've enjoyed today's showcase at the Portal and will stop by each day until Saturday April 30 for more Cracked Critter creations, see you there again tomorrow!

Lady Atlantis - Rick St Dennis EDT!

Hello Everyone!
It's my turn again to share some design team inspiration for the Rick St Dennis EDT over on our Facebook Group, Rick St Dennis Digi Fans and Friends!

This stunning digi stamp by Rick St Dennis Mfa is called Atlantis especially for Miranda and it's available in Rick's Zibbet store HERE!  FYI, in case you haven't heard yet, Zibbet have now introduced immediate digi downloads just like Etsy so you no longer have to wait for your purchase to be emailed to you!  YAY!  Don't you just love that instant gratification even though Rick was on the ball with his emails ;0)  You might recognize the seahorse from this digi, I used him for my Steampunk Seahorse ATC at the beginning of March, check it out HERE if you missed it!

I enjoyed colouring the entire image for today's card project this time which started out in Photoshop CS6.  I duplicated the digi and erased the background leaving me with just the image on a transparent background which I could then layer over my background work.  I drew in my own watery effects...the black bubble/splashes and the subtle blue mottled background as well as the shadows around the image.  I also added some beveled effects to the image also which gives the image a 3D effect.   I then printed out on Neenah cardstock and coloured with Copics including white and metallic silver and gold details added with gel pens.  I used a scalloped lace Fiskars paper punch on all four corners and applied Shaded Lilac Distress Ink to the edges.  The coloured image was then layered onto black cardstock, then colour coordinating blue cardstock and again on a black card made from a sheet of cardstock.  I used my Perfect Layers border tools to cut the perfect borders!  I then completed my project with a touch of 3D shimmer with Magic Transparent White 3D droplets applied with a Viva Pearl pen to the image as well as the punched corners.

Here's a closer look at the details!

Thanks for stopping by to see my project today and hope to see you over at Rick St Dennis Digi Fans and Friends!

Goddess of Moonlight - card for Rick St Dennis EDT!

Hello Everyone!
Today is my turn to share some design team inspiration for the Rick St Dennis EDT over on our Facebook Group, Rick St Dennis Digi Fans and Friends.

This gorgeous digi is called The Goddess of Moonlight on Evening Fog...maybe that should be "in" evening fog, I don't know LOL ;0)  Anyway, she's a gorgeous gothic-esque goddess and I couldn't resist colouring her in shades of purple and gray.  I printed her out on Neenah cardstock and coloured with Copics with touches of metallic silver gel pen for a bit of bling.  I used the Spellbinders scalloped die cut on her and applied Shaded Lilac Distress Ink and dabs of silver Platinum Planet Brilliance ink to the decorative edges.

I made this card as inspiration for our April Facebook challenge, You had me in Stitches, so I used Tim Holtz Alterations straight stitch embossing folder to make this black background panel and used the stitches to create the moon beams.  I randomly applied metallic silver rub-on creme to the panel to enhance the texture of the cardstock as well as the embossed design.  I also drew stitches with a black Copic fineliner and completed my project with a few silver glass seed beads stitched on too.

A closer look at the details!

Thanks for stopping by to see my project today and hope to see you over at Rick St Dennis Digi Fans and Friends!

Alice in Wonderland Swap!

Hello Everyone!
I'm currently playing in a fun Alice In Wonderland swap called "All Things Alice" hosted by Marion B with some of my fellow Lost Coast Designs DT!  We'll be sharing our ATCs over at Lost Coast Portal to Creativity very soon but here's mine in the meanwhile!  You can see all the swap ATCs shared so far on the All Things Alice Pinterest board.

All the stamps I've used are by Lost Coast Designs, we have a large Alice in Wonderland collection for you to choose from so pop on over to LCD and check them out!
From the "Alice, Cat and Hatter" set I used the Alice and Cheshire Cat sitting in a tree and from the "Rabbits, Cat Face, Hatter, Rabbit with Watch" set I used the Royal Rabbit, Cheshire Cat Face and the Mad Hatter.  I also used Lost Coast's Long Swirl Flourish and the Chessboard.

a closer look at the details
I started out by scanning pages from my original Alice in Wonderland book and adjusted the colour and sized the text to fit the standard ATC size of 2.5" x 3.5" in Photoshop CS6.  I printed out the ATCs onto white Neenah cardstock, stamped all the images with Onyx Black Versafine ink and coloured them with Prismacolor coloured pencils.  I also used a metallic gold gel pen to add some bling.   The flourish was stamped with Tea Dye Distress Ink and I distressed the edges of all 3 ATCs Tim's Paper Distresser tool and applied Peacock Feathers Distress Ink.  I punched 2 corners on each ATC with a decorative Fleur-de-lis corner punch and adhered them to black cardstock also cut to the ATC size and added some gold to the black cardstock revealed in the punched corners.  I added some shimmer and sparkle to each ATC with touches of clear Wink of Stella and dimension with a White Magic Transparent Viva Pearl pen.  Each ATC was then completed with 3D alphabet stickers.

Thanks for stopping by to see my creations!

Lego Birthday - Cards for Kids

Howzit Everyone!
Today I'm sharing a card I made for my nephew's 9th birthday.  I used Lost Coast Designs stamps so this card is performing double duty as my DT project for our new April challenge.  The theme this month is "Anything Goes" so pop on over and join the fun at Lost Coast Portal to Creativity!

My nephew loves Lego and we went to Legoland for his birthday so I couldn't resist making a Lego inspired card.  The blocks were all made with a square paper punch and the dots with a standard size hole punch.

For the decorative panel I stamped the Lost Coast Designs Party Hats from set 2 and Party text from Party Hats set 1 in Memento Cantaloupe ink on yellow cardstock, the Happy Birthday text from the Misc. Words set with Brilliance Galaxy Gold ink on blue cardstock and the number 9 from the License Plate alphabet set with Tuxedo Black Memento ink on red cardstock.  I used a circle punch and punched out the number, edged it with Brilliance Galaxy Gold and mounted it to the card on a wiggly spinny thingie.

All the "lego" parts and the stamped panel were adhered to a black mat which I embossed with a Cuttlebug bubble embossing folder and corner punched with a decorative corner punch.  All punches used are by Marvy.  I then mounted that on to a folded card I made from white cardstock.

My nephew loved his card and I hope you do too ;0)
Thanks for stopping by and I'll see you over at Lost Coast Portal to Creativity!

"Meermin the Mermaid" - a card for Rick St Dennis EDT!

Howzit Everyone!
It's my turn to share some Rick St Dennis EDT inspiration over on our Facebook group, Rick St. Dennis Digi Fans and Friends.

This image called Meermin is a colouring page from Rick St Dennis' latest colouring book, Little Loves, and it's available on Amazon!  If you enjoy colouring just for the fun of colouring then you'll want to check out all the Rick St Dennis colouring books available now too.  However, if you love colouring but colouring books just aren't your thing then think about taking coloured pages a step further and make something with them like cards for example which is what I did for today's share!

I coloured this little cutie-pie with Copics as well as the background and created watery effects with a light shade of blue and the colourless blender pen.  When I cut the sides to make the card front I trimmed it so that her curls and tail peek out over the edges a bit for just a touch of extra interest.  I then applied Stormy Distress Ink with a foam ink applicator around all four sides to further enhance the impression that she's surrounded by water.

The "sea weed" on the right side I made from cutting blue cardstock extremely thinly on my paper cutter.  I love doing this, I never tire of the fun spirals the cuts create.  The 3 pieces where then stitched onto the card front with a variegated fiber which I then looped and incorporated into my ocean bouquet and completed with a starfish.  I'm currently on vacation and didn't have time to add the extra details I wanted to include before this project was due to share so I will be adding Viva Pearl Magic Transparent White dimensional drops to each pearl on her necklace and Wink of Stella clear to her fins for a subtle touch of shimmer and will share the completed card soon.

The "stitching" bit I added coz our Facebook Challenge for April is "You had me in Stitches" and we challenge you to incorporate stitching into your projects whether they be real or faux so come and join the fun!

Thanks for stopping by to see my project and I hope I've inspired you to come and play us!
