I designed my own top hat template and cut the pieces out of a sheet of dark red cardstock that I pre-embossed with a design called Regency by Craftwell on my new eBosser...LOVE these new letter size embossing folders!! You can get a great deal on the eBosser at Crafter's Companion!
Once the hat was assembled I applied Black Soot Distress Ink with a foam ink applicator to the embossed design and to all the edges. The star of my top hat is the Mad Hatter from the Wonderland digi set by Smeared Ink. I skewed the image to fit the wonky shape of my hat on Photoshop, printed it and then fussy cut it out. I then coloured the image with Copic markers and added highlights and details with a white gel pen. I used the following Copic markers:
Black 100, E0000, 00, 41, 43, G21, 28, 85, BV01, 02, 04, R39, 46, E15, 18, 19, the Colourless Blender and 0.3 Black Multiliner.
The image was then adhered to the hat with glue and then I embellished with peacock feathers, silk flowers and a lavender ribbon band, decorated with little white rabbits, and a matching bow. I also added playing cards and a tiny glass bottle, from SkyBluePink, filled with a purple potion. I made a tiny tag for the bottle and wrote 'Drink Me' on it and attached it to the bottle with copper wire. The secret ingredients in the bottle are actually hand sanitizer gel tinted with Cool Peri Alcohol ink ;0)
Here's a closer look at all the details. Click on the photos to enlarge.
I had such fun creating this funky little top hat and hope you'll come and join my GDT challenge over at Smeared and Smudged! I challenge you to make your own Mad Hatter's top hat or you can create something else that features hats or just have fun with the other Alice in Wonderland images too!
You'll also see more of my AIW creations in the February challenges over on the Smudgy Antics blog too! It's my birthday next week so what a fun month this is going to be, hee hee!
