'Alice in Pink' a Steampunk Pink Third Coast Project!

Hello Everyone!
We're half way through the Steampunk Pink challenge I'm hosting over at the Third Coast Creative Challenge blog and here's my latest inspiring creation titled 'Alice in Pink'.

I went mostly with the baby pink colour scheme for this project even though I usually prefer darker pinks.  But it works for me coz I like the menacing and quirky vibe of the 'Snow White-esque meets Alice' twisted world with the looming evil Queen of Hearts watching Alice's every move in her magic mirror.

Click on the photo on the left if you missed seeing my first Steampunk Pink creation titled "Steampunk Caprica 6" - inspired by my idea of what BSG's Caprica 6 Cylon would have looked like if she existed in the 'Firefly' verse ;0)

All the images are by Third Coast Rubber Stamps:
Steamy Alice (KG-060-Q), Steampunk Stella LG (KG-043-T) and 'Steamy' word stamp (WS-187-B).

Alice and the Queen (aka Stella) were stamped with Tuxedo Black Memento ink onto Strathmore Bristol Smooth heavy weight cardstock.  I added dimension to my project by stamping the Alice image twice, fussy cutting her out and layering with KoolTak clear foam tape on top of the panel with the White Rabbit included.  KoolTak allows you to add layers without seeing the ugly white or black foam of traditional pop dots when the project is viewed at an angle!

I used the following Sketch Copic markers to do all the colouring:
Alice's Hair and Gold-Yellow Details on all the images:  Y15 and 17.
Queen's Hair: C03, 05, 07, 09 and Black110.
Skin:  E0000, 01 and 02.
Eyes/Eyeshadow: B000, 02, G09.
Black Eyeliner and Eye Highlights:  Copic Multiliner and White gel pen.
Alice's Dress:  V0000, RV10, 13 and W3.
Stockings:  C3, 5 and V0000.
Queen's Hat:  R29, 39, RV10 and 13.
Clocks and Bottle Glass areas:  B000 and 02 (Bottle heart R29).
Steampunk leather and Boots:  E11, 13, 15, 18, W3 and 5.
Rabbit Fur:  E41
Rabbit's Clothes:  E0000,000, 00, RV10, 13, C3, 5 and 7.
Metallic details:  gold gel pen.

Cut both panels to size and colour the backgrounds with Pink Madder Lake and Rose Madder Lake Derwent Watercolour Pencils.  Blend with a Dove Blender Pen.  Stamp the word 'Steamy' many times to fill the background around the image of the Queen panel with Angel Pink Memento ink.  Distress the edges of both panels with Tim's Paper Distresser tool and apply Black Soot Distress Ink with a foam ink applicator tool.  Cut a mat from black cardstock just slightly larger than the panel and adhere together with Scotch Quick-Dry Adhesive.

Add Judikins Diamond Glaze to the glass areas on the Queen panel and put aside to dry.

Cut a mat for the Alice panel and also die cut out a Spellbinders Fancy Tag 2 from black cardstock.   Cut the fancy label in half and trim away some of the unwanted areas.  Adhere the Alice panel to the mat with Scotch Quick-Dry Adhesive and then adhere the label pieces to the top and bottom of the panel to create the look of an ornate mirror.  Embellish with 4 self-adhesive pearls (Recollections).

Now for the upcycled part of the project and where the inspiration for the pastel pink colour scheme actually originated!  Those of you who shop at 'bebe' probably recognized the pink with black hearts tissue paper the store wraps up our clothes in ;0)  To make the background panel I ran a piece of white cardstock through my Xyron to add permanent adhesive and adhered the tissue paper to it allowing it to wrinkle and crease as it got stuck down.  Distress the edges and apply Black Soot Distress Ink to match the stamped panels.  Adhere the Queen panel to the tissue paper mat with QDA.

Cut a length of white lace and adhere it to the Queen panel with tiny dabs of Judikins Diamond Glaze and secure the ends to the back of the tissue paper mat with double sided tape.  Cut a mat from black cardstock slightly larger and adhere the tissue paper background to it with Quick-Dry adhesive.  Then adhere the Alice 'mirror' panel as well.  Die cut out a Cheery Lynn Designs Fancy Flourish from a scrap piece of pink decorative paper (My Mind's Eye Tres Belle collection).  I had a piece left over from my Caprica 6 card.  Cut the flourish into two pieces and adhere in place with dabs of QDA.
Complete the project with a single self-adhesive pearl in the top left corner of the Queen panel, 3 black pearls down the left hand side of the tissue paper mat and 5 self-adhesive pastel pink paper roses (Treasures by Shabby Chic).
