'ARCHITECTURE Is One Way For Man To Mimic The Beauty Of Nature' An Art Card!

Hi Stampers!
Thanks for stopping by my blog today coz I've got another Blockheads Design Team tutorial to share with you all!

Sometimes inspiration for a design comes to me in the form of a message or a story and I was inspired to tell the story that we, the human race, strive to replicate the beauty we see in nature every day.  We create breathtaking Art, glorious Music and build the most beautiful architecture!  I've designed an art card with an architectural nature theme that tells the story that ARCHITECTURE is one way that man can mimic the beauty of nature featuring wonderful rubber stamps available from Blockheads Paper Arts!

I used the following supplies:
Rubber Stamps by Blockheads Paper Arts:
Architecture
Backgrounds for All Occasions
Flowers Full Sheet
ATC25 1-2B Beauty Words Set
White, Hunter green and Chocolate brown cardstock
Paper Trimmer
Gold metallic paint pen
Double sided sticky tape and Adhesive Tape Runner
Onyx Black Versafine ink
Distress Inks:  Peeled Paint and Tea Dye
Craft iron
Stamp-A-Ma-Gig Stamp Positioner
PrismaColor coloured pencils
Dymo Label buddy
Dimensional stud sticker from Michaels or check out the Blockheads Embellishments
Black Pop Dots

See the tutorial photos below!
I created my own decorative background for this project by randomly applying Distress Ink Tea Dye directly to a sheet of white cardstock.
Saturate most of the sheet with water to make the ink smudge and blur in some areas and remain crisp in others.  I used a craft iron to partially dry the sheet but while it was still pretty damp I scrunched it up to further enhance the distressed look and then continued to iron it flat until it was dry again.  The result is a textured uneven surface that's almost leather-like in appearance.
I then stamped the Blockheads crackle background design all over the cardstock using the same Distress Tea Dye ink.  The result is a distressed and texturized background with varying shades of the same ink colour.

Stamp the Calendula flower, Wrought Iron Gate and Architectural collage onto the background cardstock with Distress Ink Peeled Paint.
Cut out the stamped designs forming two small square panels and two tall rectangle panels.
Edge all the panels with a metallic gold paint pen and layer each panel onto Hunter green cardstock leaving a narrow border.
For the main focal point of my art card I used a second Architectural collage and the 'Architecture' text and combined the two images.  I marked off the size of the panel I wanted on the background cardstock and then stamped the text where I wanted it in Versafine Onyx Black ink with the aide of a stamp positioner.
I then stamped the collage with the aide of the stamp positioner and cut out the panel.
I coloured the collage with PrismaColor coloured pencils, edged it in gold and layered it onto the Hunter green cardstock.
Stamp the words 'Beauty' and 'Nature' with Versafine Onyx Black onto the background cardstock, cut out, edge both in gold and layer onto Hunter green cardstock as well.
Cut, score and fold Chocolate brown cardstock to make the folded card and adhere the 4 panels with double sided sticky tape or tape runner adhesive and the focal point panel with black pop dots for dimension.
I love the way the art card looks at this point!  I think the design is quite striking and I could easily have considered my art card finished!  But the inspiration for my design is the story I wanted to tell so I had to take it one step further!
I used a Dymo Label Buddy to print out words and cut them out.  I adhered them to the right hand side of the card with the stamped 'Beauty' and 'Nature' panels so that my message reads
'ARCHITECTURE Is One Way For Man To Mimic The Beauty Of Nature'.
To finish off my I art card I embellished it with a single dimensional vintage gold stud adhered to the corner of the bottom left panel.

I hope my project has inspired you to see the beauty in everything that surrounds you and to create an Architectural Nature art card of your own ;0)
