'I Love You Daddy! - A Grungy Fancy Fold Card

Howzit Everyone!
Continuing on from my post on creating Grungy Backgrounds...
Here's the Father's Day card I designed using Grunge backgrounds #2 Cross Hatch and #3 Old Wood/Bark.

I used the following Blockheads' exclusive stamps to make my really cool vintage fancy fold card:
Grunge It Up, Vintage Railway and Daisies

I'd like to dedicated this card to my precious Daddy...I miss making cards for him :0(

List of supplies used:
Distress Inks:  Weathered Wood and Black Soot, Rhubarb Stalk Memento Ink pad, Tim Holtz Idea-ology Paper Stash cardstock - Retro Grunge, Tim's Foam Ink Applicator tool, white cardstock, Heat It Embossing tool, Charm embellishments or Tim's Idea-ology Philosophy Tags, Spellbinders Labels 21 dies and Tan Embossing Mat, Dymo Label Buddy and red label tape,  pearlescent mustard coloured brads with matching embellishments (CardMaker), vintage fountain pen nib, permanent adhesive tape and craft glue.

See the Grungy Backgrounds post for my tutorial on how to create Grunge background #3 then stamp the Vintage Train image with Memento Rhubarb Red.

Die cut Grunge Background #3 with the second to largest Spellbinders Label 21 die and emboss it with their tan embossing mat.  Use the same die as a stencil and sponge on Black Soot Distress Ink with Tim's foam ink applicator tool.

Trace the outline of the same metal die onto a sheet of Tim's Retro Grunge cardstock.  I used the one that looks like red wood.  Cut it out with scissors and apply Black Soot Distress ink to the edges.  Adhere the train die cut to it with permanent adhesive.  Make a folded card from another sheet of Tim's Retro Grunge cardstock.  I used the one that has dots on one side and a beech coloured wood on the other.  Fold it with the dots on the outside.  Place the largest Labels 21 die with the left edge over the fold and put something inside the folded card so that the die doesn't cut all the way through the card when you run it through your die cutting machine.  I used a thin metal plate designed to be a shim.  Trim away the excess cardstock left over so you just have the shape of the die cut as the front of the card.  Apply Black Soot to the edges and adhere the train mats to the front flap with permanent adhesive tape.

For the inside of the card see the Grungy Backgrounds post for my tutorial on how to create Grunge background #2.  Cut the background into strips and stamp more grungy edges with the Grunge splotchy corner stamp in Weathered Wood Distress ink.  Run the strips through a Xyron to add adhesive.  Adhere the strips to the inside of the card.

Stamp the sentiment 'For You' from the Daisies stamp set in Rhubarb Stalk Memento ink on a piece of the Grunge background #3.  Die cut it out with a smaller Labels 21 die for the inside of the card.  Die cut out a larger mat from a piece of Tim's red wood Retro Grunge cardstock.  Edge both die cuts with Black Soot Distress ink and adhere to the inside of the card with permanent adhesive.

Cut a strip from the same Grunge background #3 and adhere it to a strip of the red wood Retro Grunge cardstock.  Make the sentiment label with a Dymo Label Buddy and adhere it to the strips.  Punch small holes in each end, attach brads and adhere the sentiment label to the inside of the card with craft glue.

Decorate the inside sentiment with square cardstock embellies that match the brads and adhere the vintage fountain pen nib to the front panel with craft glue.  I picked up those authentic vintage nibs at a fleamarket in England but Tim's got some in his Idea-ology collection for you to use instead!
