Are you guys in need of some Father's Day inspiration? I've been busy creating two masculine style cards that are perfect for Father's Day!
I'm going to share them as a two-part series, this one today and then the second on Friday!
'All Aboard for Dad's Day'
Both of my cards have a blue monochromatic colour scheme and feature the exciting new stamp designs by Blockheads Paper Arts! You're going to love these new images, especially if you're into Steampunk! But my cards demonstrate how you can use them even if you haven't gone Steampunk crazy!
For today's tutorial I featured stamps from the Vintage Railway sheet and the Victorian Invention sheet. All Aboard? Then let's get stamping ;0)
MATERIALS and SUPPLIES
I used the following Blockheads Paper Arts stamps from the

See the photos below to following along with the step-by-step instructions:
Stamp the Vintage Train Illustration in Ancient Page Indigo ink on white cardstock and cut it out with a square Spellbinder die.
Stamp the Vintage Train Illustration in Ancient Page Indigo ink on white cardstock and cut it out with a square Spellbinder die.
Use a slightly larger square die to cut a mat from Indigo cardstock. Punch two opposite corners of the stamped panel with a Marvy Southwest corner punch and adhere it to the Indigo mat with adhesive tape.
Cut two photo corners with a Quickutz die from purplish-blue cardstock and adhere them to opposite corners with a glue stick.
Cut out two rectangle and two square mats from Indigo cardstock with Spellbinder dies. Then two slightly smaller panels of both shapes from the white/blue mottled cardstock. Emboss the two white/blue squares in a Clockworks Cuttlebug embossing folder.
Apply Weathered Wood Distress Ink to the embossed design using the 'Direct to Paper' method, for newbie stampers DTP just basically means I applied the ink directly to the cardstock with the actual ink pad, making sure the ink just went onto the embossed design.
Stamp the Vintage Railway lantern from the Vintage Railway sheet and the Prof. Camus banner from the Victorian Invention sheet onto the two rectangle panels in Indigo Ancient Page dye ink.
With the aide of a stamp positioner, stamp 'All Aboard', from the Vintage Railway sheet, in Indigo on the bottom rectangle panel.
Stamp the Gears Diagram image from the Victorian Invention sheet on both rectangle panels a few times. Punch just the top right corner of the top panel and the bottom right corner of the bottom panel with the Southwest punch and adhere to the Indigo mats with permanent adhesive tape.
Make a folded card from white cardstock and use a scoreboard to score the fold. Cut a mat from the purplish-blue cardstock slightly smaller than the white folded card and adhere all the panels to it with permanent adhesive tape. Then adhere the large mat to the white folded card with double-sided sticky tape. I like to use the sticky tape for the big mat coz it's stronger than the adhesive tape and will keep all the mats attached to the card.
Finish off by adhering the focal point of the card with pop dots for dimension. I like to use the scrap from the pop dots for larger mats so it doesn't get dented in in the middle.
I love the way this card turned out, it's handsome and perfect for the guys! I hope I've provided you with some inspiration for making masculine cards and for trying your hand at monochromatic colour schemes too. I'll be posting my second 'All Aboard for Dad's Day' tutorial on Friday! Here's a sneak peek so keep your eyes on my blog for more train spotting!

Beautiful!!!! I love all the ink colors you used in your monochromatic scheme. Fabulous layout. Love the way you combined the two different sets. I am very inspired. I need to get busy on a Father's day card myself. Can't wait to see part two.
