I've been having fun lately playing with Patina Perfect Pearls and today I'm sharing a Butterfly Box and matching Gift Card project designed for Blockheads Paper Arts!
I used the large butterfly and butterfly postage stamp from the Painted Butterflies set and the large peacock feather background, small peacock feather and 'I'm Proud of You' sentiment from the Proud As A Peacock set. All the stamps and linked products are available at Blockheads Paper Arts!
Perfect Pearls Peacock Butterfly Box

Trace out the butterfly box onto a sheet of black cardstock and cut out. I used a template by Papermania but there are plenty of variations of this style of box, which is similar to a gable box, available on the web for you to use.
Stamp the large peacock feather background multiple times to fill the entire template with Perfect Pearls medium. Randomly brush on pewter and gold Patina Perfect Pearls. Spritz the design with a mist of water to set the powders. Make Perfect Pearls paint by scooping a small amount of powder of each colour onto a plastic palette or tray and add water to the powders. Mix until you've got a creamy consistency. Paint the entire design with a combination of blue and green Patina PP.
Paint the underside of the butterfly and also outline the edges of the template with Patina PP paint too. This is what the box looks like assembled but I didn't stop there! Stamp the large butterfly from the Painted Butterflies stamp set with Top Boss embossing ink onto a scrap piece of black cardstock. Sprinkle on silver embossing powder and heat emboss.
The butterfly curled up nicely from the heating which was perfect for what I wanted to do with it! Paint the butterfly with the Patina Perfect Pearls and also paint the back of the butterfly too. I mixed what was left of the two colours together to paint the back of the butterfly to get that wonderful variegated shimmer. Once the butterfly is dry cut it in half down the middle of the body. While the box is assembled paint a small amount of white craft glue onto the butterfly flaps (on the top). Adhere the cut butterfly to the corresponding flap on the box. Finish the box by wrapping a mix of peacock coloured eyelash and ladder fiber around the sides and secure at the back with a knot. Add a dab of glue to secure the knot and trim off the excess fibers.

Cut a piece of black cardstock to make the matching gift card. Stamp the postage stamp butterfly with Top Boss embossing ink off center and the sentiment down the right hand side and heat emboss with silver embossing powder. Stamp the small peacock feather multiple times across the entire card with Perfect Pearls medium. Colour the gift card by following the same steps used on the box to apply the Patina powders and paints.
Score the gift card down the center and fold in half. Wrap the same fibers around the card fold and tie a knot at the top and trim away any excess fibers if needed.
I absolutely love how this gift set turned out - here's another view of them together :0)

This set is perfect for giving small gifts like jewelry, key chains and even the actual key to a car! I can just imagine the squeals of delight ;0) I think this set would be good for the guys too coz it does have a bit of a masculine feel to it if you think they'll get past the added fluffy fiber that is ;0)
