Tutorial Tuesdays: 'Tis The Season To Sparkle - Fall Roses canvas art by Val!

It's Tutorial Tuesday time and LeighSBDesigner Val is here today to show you just how versatile and how much fun you can have with my Fall Roses designs!

Fall Roses is perfect for your Fall/Autumn projects and so much more, you can make it work for any season you want with a splash of imagination😉  Val's project would also make the most fabulous gift, there's nothing more joyous than giving and receiving a gift handmade with love❤️

Hi everyone, Val here today to share my canvas tutorial using the wonderful Fall Roses coloured in shades of purple and pinks.  This image really can be used for any seasons just by changing the colour scheme.  

I printed out Fall Roses and coloured them up I using 3 different pens to get the colours I wanted.

I started out by spritzing an 8 x 10 inch canvas with water and sprinkled Nuance Powders directly onto the canvas.  Nuance Powders are similar to Pixi and Brushos powders so you can use whatever you have on hand for this fun technique! Tip the canvas to make the water and powders combine and run down the canvas.

Then apply white gesso with a flat brush to paint the canvas and dry it with a heat tool.

Once the gesso is dry apply crackle paste to the canvas with a palate knife and heat dry with heat tool until you see the paste start to crackle.

I then made acorns and leaves with Hearty Soft air drying clay and molds and coloured them with Spectrum Noir Colourista pens.

Now the fun really begins, putting everything together!  I adhered the leaves and acorns and some real pine cones to the canvas with PVA glue and then sprinkled them with Tim Holtz Clear Rock Candy Glitter.

I fussy cut out the Fall Roses as well as some extra printed pieces from the design for layering to add dimension to the image.  I adhered the main image to the canvas with the Mod Podge.

The extra images were then adhered in place with 3D silicon glue.  I coated all the Fall Roses images with Mod Podge using with a flat brush and then sprinkled them with glitter to add some sparkle.

I stamped out the sentiment in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink onto white cardstock and trimmed.  I then coat them with Mod Podge and added the glitter.  The sentiment was also adhered to the canvas with 3D silicon glue for extra dimension.

Your canvas is now ready to display on an easel or hang on the wall.

Happy Dia de Muertos - ATCoin by Leigh!

I hope you all had a SPOOktacular Halloween yesterday!  Mine was brilliant with lots of wonderful Trick or Treaters and, to my delight, many declared that my house was the best in the neighbourhood with lots of photo posing with my outdoor decor going on, Woohooo👻

Here's a peek at my Halloween home this year🎃

 Now it's time to plan my Christmas decorating, YAY🎄

 I've got a little project to share with you today in celebration of Dia de Muertos - the Day of the Dead.  Dia de Muertos is a literal translation of All Souls' Day and it is a joyous 3 day Mexican tradition where the lives of passed loved ones are honoured and remembered🎉 

LeighSBDesigner Val is currently hosting an ATCoin Swap in my LeighSBDesigns Facebook Fan Group.  The theme is Anything Goes with an optional Halloween twist.

One of my swap coins features the fabulous Oddeigh Catrina - Dia de Muertos.

She's coloured up with Copics, fussy cut out and mounted onto a Distress Oxide galaxy sky background which is a remnant of the background I made for my 31 Days of Halloween step card.

For my finale project I crammed everyone into a SPOOktacular side step card👻
By the light of the Kitty Luna moon Oddleigh Witchiepoo has cast a spell over the horde below!  The Zombie Stare, The Zombie Scream, No Rest for the Wicked, an Alien, a UFO, Special Agent Boston Terrier and Special Agent Foxy are heading your way and they WANT candy👻

EEEEEEk!  Who turned out the lights!!!!!

Phew...THAT wasy spooky!!!!

 All the Copic coloured characters were fussy cut out and layered onto a magical Distress Oxide galaxy sky.  This time I also added glow-in-the-dark stars to the sky as well as the moon, Alien's eyes and the UFO.

I made the step card from a sheet of black cardstock and cut panels from the galaxy sky background to fit.  I then adhered all the characters to the background panels and cut around them to form the top edge of each panel. The sentiment is made up with words from the Red Tape Snippets.

Neo got in on the action as usual😸
