• To participate you simply share your project on your own blog, include the provided Blog Hop Inlinkz code in your post and publish it as normal.  
• Then immediately add the permalink for your Poe post (not just your blog URL) in the inlinkz collection that is now conveniently included in your post!
• There's no limit on how many projects you can link up but each project must be in its own post.  
• Old projects are welcome too but they must be re-published in new posts, no backlinking!
• The Inlinkz collection closes at 5 to midnight pacific time on January 23!

LeighSBDesigns New Release - The 2018 Poe Collection!

Happy Weekend Stamping Friends!
It's the most POEful time of the year when I celebrate Edgar Allan Poe's birthday with an annual Poe Appreciation Day Blog Hop.  The hop starts on the Master of Macabre's birthday, January 19th, and ends January 23rd!  All the Poe Blog Hop info can be found HERE!

Of course I had to design a digi Poe collection for the grand occasion and today I'm thrilled to unveil the 9 new designs that range from classic Poe to quirky Poe themed imagery!

Tutorial Tuesdays: Oddleigh New Year Elf Art Journal Page by Nan!

Hello creative friends!
Welcome to today's Tutorial Tuesday segment with LeighSBDesigner Nan featuring lil miss Oddleigh New Year Elf and Fireworks!

 Hi, Nan here with some New Years fun featuring Oddleigh New Year Elf and Fireworks!  I love playing with these Oddleigh characters because they can be used in so many ways!  I didn't use the fireworks on this one as I wanted my project to have an all year long message!

I always talk about using the leftover paint on my acrylic palette and thought I would show you two of my palette papers and how colorful they are...almost backgrounds as they are but would be much too bumpy as the paint dried so I brayer the paint onto some cardstock to get a smoother surface.
 

I always keep some stencils and embossing powder and texture paste handy to mix with the paint and dab on several different cardstock papers I have in various stages.  This is a Tim Holtz's stencil that gave me the idea for my project.
 

This is a page I had called finished months ago and had waiting in my trusty old pizza box...great for misting, and generally getting messy without ruining the whole room!  The numbers and Oddleigh New Year Elf made me think how we live by calendar dates and clocks so much that we miss the beauty that we pass each day!

I printed Oddleigh New Year Elf onto white cardstock suitable for alcohol and coloured her up with Spectrum Noir Markers and markers found at Tuesday Morning that are amazing.  Sadly half of the two boxes they had left had dried up so they let me combine the two to make a set, YAY, brush nibs RULE!
 

I fussy cut her out then decided to back her with another piece of stamped and gelatoed paper!  I then matted her onto a blue shimmer cardstock panel to make her pop nicely against the background.
 

I created the sentiment that I wanted for the journal page in Photoshop and printed it out onto white cardstock, cut out the text and inked them in Mermaid Lagoon Distress Ink.
 

 Here's the finished art journal page with lil miss Oddleigh New Year Elf.  I completed her by inking around her with both a black and white Pitt Big Brush markers to make her pop a bit!

 

I have made a resolution to paint a picture everyday as a challenge to myself to continue my exploration in developing my own style and I wanted my art journal pages to reflect more of the things I need to be reminded of and this message was perfect and something that all of us can benefit from doing😀

Tutorial Tuesdays: New Year projects by Val!

Happy 2018 to you all🎉
Val here to share 2 New Year themed projects I made using our new release for 2018, lil miss Oddleigh New Year and Fireworks set and the Party Hats pack🎉

To make my Oddleigh New Year Elves card I started out by adding the blue background to the images in my Serif Craftaritst2 software by using the png file formats that come with the set.   I printed out the scene onto Neenah white cardstock and trimmed to keep a white border.  I then printed the smaller Elf and fussy cut her out.  I also printed out the hats separately and fussy cut those too.  The hat with spots is from the Party Hats pack.  

The images are coloured with Spectrum Noir Sandstone and various Sakura Pens with Ranger Stickles glitter glue applied to the fireworks and the pompom on the smaller elf.  I used Cosmic Shimmer Drops to add the fun snow drops to the background.  I then used a black Micron Pen around the edges of the blue background to create a frame and mounted the panel onto a folded card made from black cardstock. 

 My second project is a tag featuring the fun new Party Hats pack and the "Happy New Year sign" is from the Oddleigh New Year Elf set.

 I resized the "sign" in Serif Craftartist2 and printed it and the hats onto Neenah white cardstock, fussy cut and coloured using Sakura Pens.  I made my own tags from white and black cardstocks with the black one a bit larger than the white one.  I then coloured the white tag with Wild Honey Distress Oxide ink applied with an ink blending foam tool.  I then adhered the images to the tag, embellished the background with Cosmic Shimmer black drops and finished everything off with silk ribbon in black and gold.

Here's the card I made featuring my newest design, lil miss Oddleigh New Year Elf.
  I created a magical scene of her enjoying the New Year fireworks while snow falls gently around her.

She's coloured with Copics with metallic gold gel pen details.   The background was done with Prismacolor pencils blended with Mona Lisa paint thinner.  The fireworks are coloured with Copics and then layers of Spectrum Noir Sparkle pens in metallic gold and silver were added to create the bursting fireworks effect with additional sparkle added with yellow Studio G and Diamond Stickles glitter glue. 

Dylusions White Linen paint was splattered randomly to give the look of falling snow.  The coloured panel was matted onto black and red cardstocks before being adhered to a folded card made from white cardstock.  To complete the card I added the large snowflake button that I decorated with red Nuvo Crystal Drops and Icicle Stickles glitter glue.
