Clear UTEE Texture Tread Pendant!

Hello Everyone!
I'm back today with another Melt Art Texture Tread project!

Last week I showed you how to make a really cool bracelet with gold UTEE disc shaped pieces and now I've got a pendant to share that was made the same way but this time I mixed in a surprise ingredient!  Click on the photo below if you missed the bracelet project!

You will need the following supplies:
Ranger Melting Pot
Ranger Melt Art Texture Tread:  Floral Flourishes
Clear UTEE
Perfect Pearl powder by Perfect Pearls
Small Round Cookie Cutter
Non-Stick Craft Sheet
Silver pendant disc bail and chain
Patera Embellishment Collection
E6000 adhesive or G-S Hypo Cement
Clear embossing ink pad

I used the same Floral Flourishes Melt Art Texture Tread which is a fun new product by Ranger!

On to the fun!  Set up your work area just like I said before in my previous project by laying down a non-stick craft sheet to protect your table.  Pour a generous amount of clear UTEE into the Melting Pot and allow the powder to melt completely.  While that's happening decide which part of the Texture Tread you're going to use.  I really like all the small moments within the Floral Flourishes design that has the little flowers so decided to go with the same design for my pendant piece.  Prepare the small round cookie cutter by coating the inside with clear embossing ink.  The ink acts as a release agent and helps the hardened UTEE pop out of the cookie cutter easily.  Once the UTEE is molten sprinkle a generous scoop of Perfect Pearl into the UTEE - that's the white powder by Perfect Pearls.  You don't want to completely mix it in so just go with one or two stirs.  You can see in the photo at the beginning of my post the wonderful shimmer the Perfect Pearls gives the UTEE...the photo really doesn't do it justice so you'll just have to try this out and see for yourself ;0)

Place the cookie cutter where you want it and pour a small amount of the UTEE into it.  Leave it alone for just a few seconds and then you can carefully peel it off the Texture Tread.  Like I said before, the thickness of the UTEE piece will depend on how much you pour in.  I also want to remind you to beware turning the cookie cutter upside down to look at it when you first remove it, especially if you removed it fairly quickly!  I did this on one of my thicker pieces and got a fright when the still runny and very hot UTEE poured out the other side on to my hand!  So just wait a few more seconds for the UTEE to harden up and don't try to remove the UTEE piece immediately either coz it will either still be runny in the middle or soft and you don't want to warp the shape by forcing it out.  Just put the cookie cutter to one side and allow it to cool.  Once cool enough the UTEE hardens and shrinks and the piece will just pop out easily.  This UTEE piece is 1 inch in diameter and was the perfect fit for the larger of the pendant bails by Imaginisce.  But you can use any kind of flat backed glue on bail or the Charm links like the ones in the Patera collection that is currently on sale at Blockheads Paper Arts!  I adhered the UTEE piece inside the disc bail with G-S Hypo cement and hung it on a silver chain.  The Black Cord necklace on sale at Blockheads would look stunning too and if you use one of the Patera charm links you could also embellish your unique pendant with a charm or beaded dangle!

Thanks for stopping by today, I hope you enjoyed my project and will keep an eye out for my next one coz I've still got more Melt Art creations to share!

  1. Beautiful pendant. I know it's hard to capture pearl in photos, but I can tell it's there. Very clever using the Perfect Pearls instead of buying the Pearl UTEE which wouldn't have been so cool and translucent.
